Fisher’s support enabled her to quickly grow her knowledge, moving into Client Service Specialist and Implementation Associate roles before becoming an Investment Counselor (IC) in 2019. Fisher’s supportive culture really helped make this growth possible. 

“Fisher’s values, vision, and approach resonate deeply with my personal values on an individual level,” Ksenia shares. “In my experience, when you put in the work, the support and opportunities the firm provides are second to none.” For example, she was able to study and earn her Investment Adviser Representative (Series 65) license.  

“Being a part of a company with an open environment allows you to learn from departments, colleagues, and management,” emphasizes Ksenia. “There’s an abundance of learning opportunities here if you’re willing to take the time to engage — research material, in-person and online training, career counseling, and day-to-day learning with your peers and leadership. 

Recently, we spoke with Ksenia about her experience as an IC, recent promotion, and other ways that Fisher empowers her to build a rewarding career. 

Working as an IC at Fisher Investments.

What does it take to succeed as an IC? According to Ksenia, “the success of an IC depends on their ability to have a deep relationship with their clients.” This relationship will involve responsibilities such as keeping clients updated on markets, having in-depth discussions about financial plans, and relaying information from Fisher’s Investment Policy Committee and Research Group. 

“Based on my personal experiences with clients, the approach at Fisher is a lot more informational, focused, and supportive than it is elsewhere in the industry,” she shares. “From an adviser perspective, working as an IC at Fisher is different because you have resources at your disposal to learn and apply what you learn, as opposed to juggling various other responsibilities, which can detract from the client experience.”

This enables Fisher ICs to support their clients to the best of their abilities — even during turbulent times. “Having patience and being the support system for my clients during tough times helps strengthen my relationships deeply,” she states. “The most rewarding thing is when clients express gratitude for your support in keeping them on track and educated. That’s why we do what we do.”

An inside look at Ksenia’s new role as a Portfolio Counselor.

In December of 2023, she transitioned to a Portfolio Counselor. When asked what led to this promotion, she tells us that during her time as an IC, she “focused heavily on behavioral finance and was able to connect more deeply with clients.” She focused on empathizing with her clients, understanding that people often have deep fears regarding money, the markets, and investments. 

Using this knowledge, “I’ve helped folks see the Fisher value time and time again,” she recalls. “I decided I wanted to be on the front lines of that process, working with potential clients on their transition to hiring Fisher as their wealth manager.” Joining the new Client Conversion (NCC) group means that she is active from the very beginning of a potential client’s journey — and this has turned out to be a great career shift!

“The most rewarding part of my current role is putting together a financial plan and hearing their excitement about getting up and running,” she tells us. 

On the flip side, Ksenia shares that her greatest challenge is truly just finding the time to assist everyone who could use her help! “It can also be challenging to navigate the ‘go, go, go’ environment while prioritizing myself,” she states. “That said, I think it’s equally as important to show up every day as the best version of yourself, and that involves coming in with a refreshed mindset so that you’re able to operate at full capacity through those challenges.”
