Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from women who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Brie Borruso, a Manager on Capital One's Corporate Strategy team that consults on high-priority projects intended to grow the organization!
Brie began her career with Capital One in 2019 as a Summer Associate with Capital One’s Strategy Consulting group for the Analyst Internship Program. She then returned full-time in 2020 with the Analyst Development Program, where she worked with various teams on projects involving customer insights, strategic partnerships, and product development. Since first joining as an intern, Capital One has provided Brie plenty of opportunities to grow. “I've worked on a ton of interesting projects across our different lines of business,” she tells us, “including everything from our digital marketing strategy, to our technology organization, to our financial services products.”
Today, Brie is paying it forward by managing Capital One’s Strategy Internship Program. “My team is pulling together an awesome agenda, which includes everything from social events for the interns, to an educational curriculum, to real projects they’ll work on that improve our business,” says Brie.
And the opportunity to uplift others is just one reason Brie loves working at Capital One. In the video below, Brie tells us more about her life at the company. We also provide lightly edited highlights from the video discussion in the following article.

What I find most exciting about my work is the opportunity to tackle pressing questions the business needs answered — including everything from how we can launch new products to what's the best way to approach business development decisions.
The collaborative culture that I was hearing about during our interview process. Since I've been here, people have really made an effort to get to know me and to make me feel welcome. I feel so comfortable approaching, asking questions, and introducing myself to new people.
I've also become part of two women's groups, including empowher—Capital One’s Business Resource Group for women and allies—which have been super supportive to me and great resources. For instance, they put on panels and provide one-on-one mentorship opportunities for me to get the chance to connect with other women at Capital One.
Capital One helps me prioritize work-life balance. I have time and energy away from work to make social plans, balance my family commitments, explore New York City, and travel. I feel comfortable having conversations about the flexibility I need for hybrid work.
Our team also gets together outside of work to make sure people feel welcome. We do everything from intramural volleyball leagues to trying out new restaurants in Washington, D.C..
The most impactful thing Capital One has provided for my career has been support around learning and development. I get plenty of feedback every day to help me learn and grow and tons of new opportunities to try things I've never done before. The people who have had the largest impact on me at Capital One have been my mentors who've given me really meaningful advice—like how to best manage and support those who work on my team—and helped me approach my career more thoughtfully.
Be authentic, open up, and bring your full self into the interview conversations. What you'll find is that people will recognize and match your enthusiasm. Use the interview process to not only share about yourself, but get to know the people who work here and can help you imagine yourself working at Capital One.
