Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from women who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Lynn Kincaid, a Superintendent at Invitation Homes.

Kincaid tells us that her favorite things about the company are the plentiful “opportunities for career and leadership growth.” At Invitation Homes, “we are offered support for long-term growth with a development framework already in place,” she shares. As part of this, employees have access to a variety of trainings (including some sponsored by The Harvard Business School) and support for continuing their education.

“I look forward to my continued journey with the training at Invitation Homes,” Kincaid says. In fact, she’s already taking the next steps in her career journey, and is actively on the path toward a management position at the company!

In the video below, Kincaid shares more about why she loves working at Invitation Homes. We also provide lightly edited highlights from the video discussion in the following article.

What do you find most exciting about Invitation Homes?

The growth and diversity that Invitation Homes is experiencing right now. We are expanding our markets and adding services for our residents to make their experience a positive and rewarding one with us. Things such as air filter delivery programs, cable and internet packages, smart rent technology, and many more.

How would you describe the culture at Invitation Homes?

The culture of Invitation Homes is one of inclusion and diversity for all. We have employee resource groups, which are voluntarily formed by employees to support diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

We also have wonderful morale-boosting appreciation days, with events like ax throwing, bowling, beach parties, Dave & Buster’s arcade parties, and many more fun things. We are also offered volunteer hours to give back to the community. Invitation Homes sponsors and supports every employee to give back.

How does Invitation Homes support you?

I feel supported by Invitation Homes by our many benefits. We have paid parental leave, paid time off, paid sick time, affordable healthcare costs with coverage beginning on day one of your employment (which was personally very important to me), 401k contributions, and more. As a superintendent, I am assigned a work vehicle that I take home with me everyday and a gas card as well.

Invitation Homes also promotes a very healthy work-life balance, and we are always family first. Personally, I had a situation where I was out of work for a while. Corporate leadership was very supportive. They checked in on me and made sure all was well until I was able to come back to work safely.

What advice would you give to other women looking to work at Invitation Homes?

Bring your enthusiasm, your interests, and your aspirations to us. Invitation Homes will open the possibilities and career growth for those who desire it. Whether or not you have a specific destination in mind at this time, it is important to focus on your own journey and to understand the tools that can help you navigate it as you go. Invitation Homes offers a wonderful array of tools to help you do just that.
