The pay gap was in the spotlight this week.

Jennifer Lawrence is the latest celebrity spokesperson for the issue of pay disparity. She blames herself for not negotiating more — and accepting less — than her male counterparts, in her personal essay.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Labor Department shared some overall pay statistics for the workforce. They announced that the increase in male earnings was double that of female workers, with the net result that women earned on average 81.1 cents for every $1 earned by a man.

While lower-income women suffer the most from pay discrepancies, female MBA-holders are not immune to them. In fact, Bloomberg reported this week that those with the most prestigious MBA degrees may see the biggest compensation differences compared to their male counterparts.
