And parents everywhere chimed in.
"Every Mom, everywhere can relate! Stay strong ?" one parent wrote.
"Couple yrs back on vacation (no less) my 11 and 13 yo girls dubbed me the 'buzz killer,'" one mom wrote. "Still pretty proud of that. #buzzkillingmom #killingitonewayoranother."
Another shared: "Hysterical. My son used to threaten to call Oprah on me (homework). He’s 28 now ?????????"
And another wrote: "My little used to call me the 'Fun Police'... stop fun in its tracks at every turn."
Many parents noted that getting hate from your kids is all part of the job.
"My son called my husband and I 'dream crushers' and was super annoyed that we found that hilarious," said one mom. "We still say it.
#dreamcrushers"
Another wrote that "fun killing is the best part of motherhood."
Fun-killer, buzz-killer, fun police, dream-crusher, the list goes on.
Other moms threw in some notes they've received from their own kids such as, "I don’t mean to be mean but, I hate you."
Love letters come in all types. At least moms have the internet now to laugh about it together.
