As Patricia Henderson, VP-Controller at GAF remarks, “the need to have an infusion of diverse perspectives was definitely necessary. So over the course of the last four years,… there’s been a real initiative to marry both those long-tenured employees and all the historical knowledge that they have with different perspectives from the outside. And, that has definitely been the evolution of the culture.” As for the result of these efforts, Henderson says that what they have “yielded is a much more innovative and engaged workforce.”

2. Culture

GAF works hard to build an inclusive culture that nurtures diverse talent. As part of this, GAF provides a wide variety of ERGs that foster a culture of support and help employees advance their careers. These include: Women in Sales, Women Inspiring Sustained Equality (WISE), Working Parents and Caregivers, Black Employees United in Leading Diversity (BUILD), Supporting All Latinos in Unity and Diversity (SALUD), Asians Leading Together (ALT) and  Rainbow Alliance Diversity (RAD). 

Further, GAF also provides unconscious bias training, internal mentorship/sponsorship programs and internal employee networking.
