RESPONSIBILITIES
The Accountant II prepares journal entries, difficult and involved reconciliations, researches and resolves exceptions, and analyzes trends and costs to validate results. This team member relies on several years of experience and judgment to plan and accomplish a variety of job functions and closing activities. The Accountant II works under moderate supervision and interacts with other departments and/or external parties when necessary.
In this role you will:
Prepare and input both simple and complex journal entries
Calculate and validate accruals
Prepare monthly management reports and analysis, which includes ad-hoc, one-time requests
Prepare reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts
Research, resolve, and document reconciling items which require critical thinking and problem solving capabilities
Answer questions from and provide requested information to both internal and external auditors
Assist with documentation and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
Consistently question unusual / non-routine transactions and account balance variances
Participate in special projects as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS

Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Working knowledge of account reconciliations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Access Database.
Working knowledge of the Accounting Standards Codification.
Working knowledge understanding of financial statements.
Working knowledge of the accounts payable process.
Experience database query tools.
Perform analysis on monthly financial statements and also on complex transactions.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and work independently.
Advanced knowledge of Excel.
Detailed oriented.
Possess the skills necessary to operate various office equipment.
Strong computer skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Familiar with standard accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
Occasional overtime or split shifts may be required.

Work Experience
2-4 years in public or general accounting and/or financial analysis, preferably with a financial services background Req
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent Required
Associate Degree
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or years of progressive experience in a true Accounting role (not Accounts Payable or Account Receivable) Required
Master's Degree
