About this role
The Global Workload Automation Systems Engineer, under the general direction of the Global Workload Automation Manager, will assist in tasks critical to the team's success. This individual will be responsible for attending project meetings and assist in gathering and documenting infrastructure and security requirements. This individual will also become familiar with all compliance, regulatory and security requirements, adhering to all corporate policies and standards. The Global Workload Automation Systems Engineer supports the administration and optimization of workload automation tools used by GMF IT. They perform design, deployment, migration and scheduling of batch workloads when needed and assist other GMF IT teams in learning the technology for their own departmental advantage. Provides expert level support in isolating faults and failures in complex flows in support of time critical jobs and batch completions. The individual in this position will serve as a system and application expert supporting batch innovations, optimization of new and existing workloads, on-boarding new applications, software problem resolution and aiding in the execution and delivery of related IT Services.
Job duties
Configures and sustains workload automation platforms and related technologies
Works cross-functionally to analyze and resolve automation system problems
Collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and provide deliverables as needed
Provides innovational guidance and support for batch automation to provision new capabilities
Supports batch engineers / schedulers across various teams to help identify and recommend modifications to procedures, system parameters, threshold monitoring triggers, security requirements, etc to improve operational support and efficiency
Supports development of utilities required for batch optimization and reporting
Design and create scheduling / automation tool configurations and scripts to efficiently detect and report on product performance
Provides support in development and customization of user interfaces into the workload automation tools and technologies
Provide application onboarding support to new workload automation users and teams
Develops and maintains system, process and training documentation
Perform other duties as assigned
Conform with all company policies and procedures
Qualifications

Knowledge
General working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, Subnetting, Routing, DHCP, Command line and DNS
Good knowledge of operating systems, applications and associated hardware (eg, Windows Desktop OSs, Windows Server OSs, OS/, UNIX/Linux)
Must have a broad understanding of enterprise computer hardware/software and corporate information systems
Working knowledge of VB Script and or PowerShell
Working knowledge of WAN security and design

Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure their completion in a timely manner

Proven performance in application administration and engineering
Familiarity with ITIL Service Management framework principles preferred
Proficiency at coding scripts in Unix, Linux and Windows system languages to facilitate workload automation interface needs
Ability to identify, develop, document and implement industry best practices centered on workload automation technologies

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience preferred
3-5 years of relative IT experience preferred
