This Corporate Counsel position manages a docket of litigation and regulatory investigations/matters, manages outside counsel, and works with business leaders to define risks and benefits of litigation strategy to develop the appropriate strategy for the business. This Attorney also offers regulatory and compliance advice and risk analysis to senior management across the business, including Merchandising, Indirect Sourcing, Marketing, Product Design and Packaging, Health & Sustainability, Privacy, Information Technology, and Finance. This position provides advice and counsel to executives and senior management on strategic initiatives, general legal advice and key regulatory requirements, corporate compliance and policy matters.
The Corporate Counsel will report to the Vice President, Deputy General Counsel for the Litigation, Regulatory & Omnichannel Services practice team and will work collaboratively and with minimal supervision as part of a fast-paced and specialized legal team. The Attorney will address complex issues and deliver practical and strategic business-focused advice; manage litigation and other disputes; monitor and advise businesses on relevant legal developments; deliver presentations and training; manage special projects; and serve on cross-functional teams.
Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC , Chicago, IL, Quincy, MA, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME, Hyattsville, MD and Mauldin, SC.

Duties and Responsibilities
Manages a docket of commercial litigation and regulatory investigations/matters. Matters frequently include real estate disputes, commercial disputes, supply chain disputes, customer disputes, antitrust matters, collection matters, and various regulatory matters.
Engage and manage outside counsel as needed.
Provide legal strategy, risk analysis and resolution, policy review and updates, and legal advice to senior executives regarding litigation, business, and regulatory matters affecting business transactions and operations.
Manage subpoenas and requests for information, and support ediscovery productions.
Provide advice in connection with federal and state regulations and industry requirements as it relates to business operations and programs (i.e. labeling, pricing, banking, antitrust, FDA, OSHA, EPA/RCRA, ADA etc.).
Engage and manage outside counsel as needed
Provide strategic advise and counsel to management teams on business terms, legal implication and risk and liability analyses.
Management of commercial disputes, government and NGO inquiries, and conduct internal Investigation, as appropriate.
Support contracts team by offering litigation and regulatory advice on legal terms of contracts.
Provide advertising and marketing support, including promotional program review, private label product support, trademark clearance, protection and maintenance, advertising law compliance.
Support Health & Sustainability teams with regulatory matters, compliance activities, and strategic advice
Review various communications, including press releases, for release to the public
Proactively monitor relevant legal developments; regulatory, industry and business trends; and industry topics.
Promote communication and awareness of legal developments, compliance issues and requirements, and best practices.
Conduct training for regulatory matters as needed (e.g. antitrust compliance training for merchandising and related departments; payment card industry requirements; insurance requirements).
Draft and continually update training materials and processes.
Provide support to other practice groups in the Legal Department (Employment, Labor & Benefits; Commercial, Real Estate, & Strategic Transactions) as needed, to manage demand, build experience across the business, and develop attorneys.
Provide support to cross-functional legal projects
Provide input on proposed legislation, potential impacts, and implementation.
Qualifications
J.D. degree
State bar license
4+ years relevant experience practicing law
