Data Engineer - Amgen India DTI Data Engineer for R&D Omics
What you will do
Amgen India will be an integral part in driving growth & innovation, improving efficiency and creating enterprise value - supporting our mission "To Serve Patients".
The Amgen India Digital Technology & Innovation Data Engineer for Research Informatics (RDI) will be responsible for advanced Bioinformatics pipelines for Proteomics, Singlecell transcriptomics etc. in support of target/biomarker discovery at Amgen.
This role requires expertise in code development (e.g. Python, Java, R, etc), some systems administration knowledge, experience with CI/CD processes and cloud computing technologies (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, etc). The role will also involve handling large datasets and developing automation tools. Additionally, experience in working with cross functional teams that include other data engineers, business analysts, architects, cloud infrastructure teams and experience in agile practices, along with effective communication skills are highly desired. Any experience in use of Generative AI is desirable.
Develop scripts to query and manipulate omics data using programming languages such as Python, Java, R.
Develop bioinformatics applications (e.g. R Shiny, Plotly Dash) and relevant usage analytics
Develop data processing pipelines for large datasets in the cloud (e.g. AWS HealthOmics, Nextflow); integrate with other data sources where applicable
Collaborate with the other engineering team members to ensure all services are reliable, maintainable, and well-integrated into existing platforms
Adhere to best practices for testing and designing reusable code
Ensure effective communication between scientific area management, technical staff and vendors to analyze scientific needs and implement informatics solutions in data acquisition, integration and analysis
What we expect of you
Doctorate Degree (OR)
Master's degree with 4 - 6 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field (OR)
Bachelor's degree with 6 - 8 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field (OR)
Diploma with 10 - 12 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field
Must Have Skills:
Experience in the software development lifecycle.
Experience in one or more of the following programming languages (R, Python, Java)
Experience with cloud computing platforms and infrastructure
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Good to Have Skills:
Experience with Systems Administration for Linux-based systems Work experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
Experience using and adopting Agile Framework
Certification:
Agile certifications (e.g. SAFe)
Cloud Computing (AWS)
Soft Skills:
Strong learning agility, ability to pick up new technologies used to support early drug discovery data analysis needs
Collaborative with good communication skills.
High degree of initiative and self-motivation.
Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.
Team-oriented with a focus on achieving team goals.
