    Undergrad Intern - Center for Observational Research (CfOR)

This 12 week, either onsite at Thousand Oaks, California or remote, internship program offers substantial project and operational experiences with the world's leading biotechnology company. During this program, you will work closely with a team of Amgen's Epidemiologists that support one of the following areas: Oncology/General Medicine/Inflammation Therapeutic Area, Strategic Planning & Operations, Data & Analytic Center Programming, Data Science, Clinical Program Design, Disease Forecasting.

    The growing demand for real-world evidence (RWE) from regulatory and reimbursement authorities makes observational research a key component of drug development and commercialization. Amgen's Center for Observational Research (CfOR) is a global organization with an industry-leading analytical capability that generates RWE to support business needs across a product's lifecycle. CfOR scientists partner with internal stakeholders and industry experts to craft, conduct, interpret and publish observational research that advises decision-making from the early development of a molecule to the design of clinical trials and the safety and efficacy of Amgen medicines.

    During this program, you will:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research scientists and project managers to facilitate the smooth execution of projects.

    • Create Python or JavaScript virtual assistant application similar to Siri or Alexa to assist the CfOR epidemiologist in the study execution process.

    • Support the CfOR PMO staff in tasks related to Smartsheet schedules, forms, reports, automations, etc.

    Basic Qualifications

    Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergrad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

    • 18 years or older
    • Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
    • Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
    • Enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
    • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
    • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship OR co-op

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field

    • Experience in designing applications in Python, Java, C++, C#, etc.

    • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

    • Strong ability to learn and quickly pick up new concepts

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

    • Eagerness to learn and adapt to a dynamic work environment

    • Strong organization and time management skills

    The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $24.70 - $28.30 per hour.
