team supports the development of advanced methods for LS-DYNA simulations. Operation of test equipment for material characterization and subsequent evaluation of test results to derive relevant data will be part of the responsibilities.
Application of Ansys software tools to their full potential is encouraged, with contributions to supporting engineering users across various industries. Participation in the Ansys Student Internship Program offers the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges, develop professional skills, and gain practical experience within the Ansys environment.
The industrial placement is scheduled for a duration of six months.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Mechanical testing of materials (tension, compression, bending, etc.) including sample and test setup preparation, test evaluation and documentation
Set up and run FE Simulations of mechanical tests
Investigate different aspects of material characterization to further develop existing parameter identification methods
Acquisition, preprocessing, and documentation of experimental and simulation data
Document and present the progress within the Ansys Customer Excellence Team
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
Studying towards a Master's degree in Stuttgart (as this positon is part time alongside the studies, 20 hours per week) an Engineering discipline, Computer Science, Material Science or related field
Ready to work at the advertised location without requiring relocation assistance by Ansys
Basic understanding of material modelling for finite element simulations
Interest in Finite-Element Simulations, material testing, Computer Aided Engineering and Scripting (Python)
Hands-on mindset and enjoy working in a laboratory setting; carefully and reliably, even with repetitive tasks
Motivated to learn; strong problem solving, communication and time management skills
Demonstrated skills in writing, understanding, and presenting in English
Authorized to work in Germany
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge of Python scripting
Academic simulation experience in at least one of the Ansys Products, or other commercial simulation software
Solid understanding of material behavior and its numerical implementation in finite element frameworks
Experience with experimental testing procedures and principles to evaluate simulation results
