    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Understand circular economy concepts in engineering and help to translate them into practical guidelines and requirements to use at the different stages of engineering product design, such as function definition, material selection, behaviour prediction with engineering simulation, or component manufacturing/assembly.

    • Develop a proof of concept using established methodologies and standards to assess the implications of product design choices in multi-cyclic systems on environmental impact, economic competitiveness, social sustainability risks, circularity performance, and material criticality.

    • Create and illustrate a teaching case study and learning material showcasing the use of the developed tool in product design decisions, integrating material selection, finite element analysis (structural and fatigue analysis), and life scenario choices.

    • Collaborate with academic and industry experts to develop technical case studies and learning materials that support engineering education and research.

    • Engage with the academic community through workshops, lectures, and conferences to promote sustainable design practices and circular economy concepts.

    What You'll Need:

    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a master's degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Design, Sustainable Design, or a related field.

    • Exposure to life-cycle thinking through curriculum, student projects, or student teams.

    • Programming skills in Python and/or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for calculations.

    • Preferred: Experience with Ansys software (Granta EduPack, Discovery, Mechanical) and prior involvement in life-cycle analysis.

    • Strong communication skills, eagerness to learn, and a willingness to tackle complex systems and problems.

    • Team player, responsible, and self-motivated.
