In this role, the successful candidate will serve as a primary engineer and software developer leading and implementing a substantial update to the data and data structures used by our flagship product, Systems Tool Kit (STK). He/she will coordinate with technical leadership and product management on data requirements and architectures, research data sources and formats, and refine and implement final designs. The ideal candidate has a background in aerospace (astro and/or aeronautical), is familiar with geospatial data content and formats, and is experienced in software development. Most importantly, however, the candidate will have a solid foundation, and the confidence and motivation to go learn what they don't yet know.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Supports requirements gathering with internal stakeholders and product leadership
Seeks to understand customer needs and the customer impact of his/her work
Participates in the design and planning of data solution architectures
Researches data sources and formats across a wide variety of domains, but focused primarily on astronautical, aeronautical, sensor, and geospatial data
Employs software development best practices and maintains them through peer reviews
Supports product testing; researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions, collaborating with the QA/support team
Acts as a technical reference for data content and architectures in STK
Operates without direct supervision
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
BS in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years' experience or MS
High degree of familiarity with aerospace concepts, terminology, and technologies
Software development experience
Proven track record of strong professional performance
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with Visual Studio, C++
Experience integrating geospatial data content into commercial software
Strong attentional to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well collaboratively across teams
Ability to translate business needs into development plans
Ability to overcome obstacles and drive projects to completion
