    Position summary

    list and Support Services Contamination Control Team has a 2025 summer internship position for undergraduate and graduate students of Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related Engineering studies. There is a high preference for candidates with a background/experience in manufacturing, and an interest in Continuous Improvement.

    The main responsibility of the Contamination Control Intern is to assist in Manufacturing process evaluations and to deliver structural improvement projects that reduce the number of contamination-causing activities and sources. The following responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

    • Gain familiarity with best practices of contamination prevention and cleaning concepts
    • Drive an assessment program of ASML manufacturing, delivering improvement proposals to our production line, and assisting them with implementation.
    • Structurally improve ongoing and new contamination control processes in terms of quality, safety, or cycle time.
    • Ensure work preparation for contamination control processes meets required standards.
    • Help with SPC (Statistical Process Control) implementation for particle cleanliness data.
    • Participate in cross disciplinary issues resolution and improvement projects.
    • Deliver timely and professional engineering support on contamination control (particulate contamination) related issues and questions as a member of the contamination control competency team. The contamination control competence acts as a primary point of contact for internal customers such as engineers, technicians and designers.
    • Interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a broad range of levels.
    • Time allocation:
      • 30% in Cleanroom monitoring parts, processes, and cleanroom facility

      • 30% Spent with Manufacturing Engineering on process improvements and results

      • 30% Spent documenting results and writing guidelines

      • 5% Spent with Design Engineering on material design changes and best practices

      • 5% Spent in meetings

    Education and experience

    • Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering.

    • Master's degree a plus

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications

    Skills

    • Previous experience in running controlled experiments.

    • Previous hands-on experience using test equipment.

    • Experience using statistical process control for the purpose of evaluating trends in data.

    • Experience evaluating or researching components for wear and tear (and material transfer).

    • High preference for candidates with a background in manufacturing.

    • The candidate needs to be self-motivated and to work independently on specific tasks.

    • Also, the candidate must work well in a dynamic environment and be a good team player.

    • Strong communication skills and technical writing abilities

    Other information
    This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT . It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, training courses and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.

    • Working around lasers; working with ladders; working on platforms; and working around chemicals.

    • The employee is occasionally required to move around the campus.

    • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

    • May require travel dependent on company needs.
