Collaborate with management to develop and maintain departmental procedures.
Advocates a strong team and client relationship within the company and with external parties, organizations, agencies, etc.
Assist with recruitment and selection
Ensure adherence to procedures through reviews, coaching and mentoring.
Analyze workload, productivity, and capability to meet ongoing needs; allocate work assignments to maximize resource efficiency.
Provide office administration support on an as needed basis.
Review, approve and audit legal expense payments processed by department staff.
Assist in managing the legal matter management system, including implementation project, training, data maintenance and quality assurance efforts.
Recommend and assist in implementing new processes to enhance operational efficiency, streamline practices, drive change, and control costs.
Support management in achieving strategic and operational goals.
Assist with other projects and tasks as requested by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Legal Assistants, as assigned. Train and develop, coach and counsel assigned staff in accordance with Human Resource policies and procedures. Participate in selection and hiring processes.

II. Required Qualifications (these are the minimum requirements to qualify)
Education (include minimum education and any licensing/certifications):
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.)
Experience in:
Minimum five years' experience in law office or legal department administration as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal.
Previous management, supervisory, or leadership experience
Training and mentoring others in areas needing improvement
Proficient in organizing and planning, analyzing and problem-solving
Team building and cooperation
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; advanced skills in Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
Advanced computer skills and ability to utilize litigation management software
Knowledge of:
Civil litigation procedures
Federal and state judicial systems
Claim procedures
Principles of Insurance
Medical terminology
Insurance defense practice
Insurance products and services
Conflict/complaint resolution
Skills and Ability to:
Evaluate situations, facts and issues and draw accurate conclusions
Skilled in judgment and decision-making, policy and/or procedure development
Analyze and problem solve complex problems or process issues
Communicate effectively with others in a work environment and with the public
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, internal clients and external parties
Demonstrate superior client service
Understand and communicate information regarding new processes and procedures

Manage multiple priorities simultaneously with consistent, timely follow-up
Work under pressure to meet deadlines
III. Preferred Qualifications
ABA Paralegal Certificate
Two years previous experience in a similar position overseeing legal assistant /paralegal functions
Association of Legal Administrator's designation
Knowledge of ACG Claims, Legal, HR and Finance systems and processes
IV. Work Environment
Report in the Detroit office 2 days a week, and work from home 3 days a week. This is subject to change based on amendments and/or modifications to the ACG Flex Work policy
