The BILL Enterprise Tax Service team is responsible for maintaining BILL's internal-facing 1099 Tax Compliance capabilities. The Enterprise Tax Service provides scalable and resilient connections to the IRS and state-tax authorities in order to perform tax services such as W-9 collection, TIN Verification, 1099 filing and issuance. You'll collaborate with peer developers, engineering managers, product managers, designers, architects, and your manager to expand, optimize and maintain the API (and supporting backend systems) so it can meet the scale and demand of BILL.

We'd love to chat if you have:

• 5+ years of development experience as a backend developer
• Experience with NodeJS, TypeScript, AWS (preferably serverless/lambda), SQL
• Experience with dev tools like - zod, prisma, nx, turborepo, vitest
• Experience with telemetry tools like - Splunk, Datadog
• Experience with APIs, microservices, queuing, and event-driven architecture
• Experience implementing complex distributed systems and robust, highly scalable, and performant SaaS applications
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and the ability to gain alignment across cross-functional boundaries
• Ability to challenge the norm and maturity to advocate for changes for the greater benefit of the business
• A passion for staying updated with the latest technologies and a drive for continuous learning and improvement
• Proven ability to take a technical ask through all stages of design and development, from concept to launch at scale
• Ability to work as feature lead with junior developers in building complex software solutions
• Ability to guide and mentor junior members of the team based on your strong technical expertise
• Proven ability to take the product through all stages of development, from concept to launch
• Expertise with all aspects of SDLC, including code reviews, unit testing, end-to-end testing and CI/CD
• Advocate for scalability, reliability, security, and engineering best practices within the team
• Ability to communicate technical details and trade-offs effectively to stakeholders

The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. San Jose pay range

$148,800-$178,500 USD

The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in Draper, UT. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in BILL's bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. Draper UT pay range

$126,500-$151,700 USD
