The Developer Platform team is at the ground floor of building the next-gen developer experience at BILL. You will be joining a team of developers who are passionate about APIs, SDKS, and tools that support BILL's developer community. Your role will entail developing, enhancing, and shaping the architecture of API connectivity solutions.

We'd love to chat if you have:

• A deep appreciation of others' perspectives, excellent communication abilities, and a profound appreciation for the effectiveness of teamwork
• 8+ years experience in designing, developing, and delivering customer centric enterprise level back end solutions
• Proven hands-on skills with programming experience in Java, multi-threading, event driven architectures, REST, Data Caching Services, DB schema design and data access technologies.
• Familiarity with modern web services, APIs and SDKs
• Have understanding of Version control systems, relational databases, entity relationships, Junits, OpenAPI specification, Git/Gitlab.
• A drive and a strong passion for continual learning in the field of engineering, with a particular focus on enhancing developer support capabilities.
• Strong understanding of developer needs and user-centric design principles for APIs.
• Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences, from large banking partners to smaller Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and the broader developer community.
• Proficiency in developing tooling that enhances API usability and developer experience.
• Ability to work in an agile development environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Excellent troubleshooting abilities and energy to be on call for support.
• Experience working on large scale, complex applications
• Ability to gain alignment across cross-functional boundaries
• Product through all stages of development from concept to launch at scale
• Familiarity and expertise in writing unit and component tests
• Experience in complex problem-solving in large-scale systems, performance optimization, and high-availability systems.
• Promoting a culture of quality
• Mentoring junior engineers

Good to Have

• Expertise with using AWS services to build microservices
• Experience with Kafka or Event Driven Systems
• Familiar with frontend development with React and Angular
• Experience with tools including Splunk, Datadog, Mixpanel, LaunchDarkly etc.
• Experience in the payments/fintech industry or building payment applications is nice to have

The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

San Jose pay range

$199,500-$250,000 USD

The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in Draper, UT. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in BILL's bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

Draper UT pay range

$169,600-$212,000 USD
