    The Sync team is responsible for building, maintaining, enhancing, and scaling two-way integration solutions between the BILL payment platform/network and major accounting software products used by its customers. Used by nearly 90% of our paying Small Business customers, sync is a core feature that allows our customers to keep their bills, payments and other data up to date in their accounting systems.

    As a Senior Staff Engineer on the sync team, you will be responsible for:

    • Designing new sync integrations
    • Executing complex data migrations
    • Working cross functionally to integrate sync products with diverse systems
    • Improving system reliability and observability
    • Promoting a culture of quality
    • Mentoring junior engineers

    We'd love to chat if you have:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
    • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in software engineering, including building enterprise platforms
    • Expertise in building and maintaining large-scale, high-volume, high-availability, low-latency systems
    • Expert-level knowledge of Java, SQL and NoSQL databases along with full-stack development
    • Ability to mentor and guide other engineers in best practices and advanced technical concepts
    • Proficiency in version control, code reviews, testing, and deployment automation
    • Proficiency with monitoring, alerting, and reporting tools
    • Cross-team collaboration with extreme ownership mindset
    • Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking, communication skills, and a bias towards action
    • Customer empathy
    • Strong understanding of engineering, product, and design interoperation and communication

    Nice to Have:

    • Expertise with using AWS services to build microservices
    • Familiar with frontend development with React and Angular
    • Experience with tools like Splunk, Datadog, Mixpanel, LaunchDarkly etc.
    • Accounting domain knowledge (knows the basics of double-entry accounting, General Ledger, AP/AR)
    • Knowledge and experience in one of - accounting OR ERP OR FinTech (back-end, e.g., Payments)
    • Familiarity with using Generative AI in production applications with RAG

    Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed below. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits. The estimated salary ranges noted below roles in the specific geographic zones

    Zone 1- San Francisco Bay Area CA (includes HQ), New York City, Seattle

    $197,200-$246,500 USD

    Zone 2- CA (Non San Francisco Bay Area), Austin TX, Massachusetts

    $177,500-$221,900 USD

    Zone 3 -Utah (includes Utah office), Houston TX (office), Florida, North Carolina

    $167,600-$209,500 USD
