About BlackRock US Municipals Group

The Municipal Fixed Income business in BlackRock's Portfolio Management Group is one of the largest managers of municipal securities in the industry with over $159 billion of assets under management. The platform offers a broad array of investment choices including mandates focused on both taxable and tax-exempt bonds.

BlackRock's Municipal Team seeks an analyst to join as a Python Developer/Engineer & Data Scientist who will have close daily interaction with the investment professionals on the Municipals team.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with credit research analysts, portfolio managers and traders to introduce new technologies to the Municipal Bond investment process

• Serve as a key contributor for scaling our current investment process and creating new investment solutions

• Develop software solutions primarily in Python and SQL

• Create and maintain interactive dashboards to effectively communicate data insights and support decision-making processes

• Provide and maintain clear and accurate documentation on tools

• Provide ongoing support on solutions and tools as the project matter expert

• Identify and implement improvements to municipal data quality to drive operational efficiencies and build scale in the municipal business

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus

• 1-3 years of relevant experience

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with additional programming languages is a plus

• Experience with concepts of Machine Learning, Natural language processing and GenAI is an added advantage

• Experience/Familiarity with databases and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and Google Cloud

• Proficient in Power BI, Tableau, or other tools to build interactive

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with flexibility to adapt to new technologies

• Familiarity with best practices for collaborative development and code review processes

• Proficient in using Git for version control, including creating and managing repositories, branching, merging, and resolving conflicts

• Demonstrated interest in learning about GenAI and its applications in Fixed Income

• Strong interest in Fixed Income markets

Skills that would be a plus:

• Ability to apply mathematics, machine learning, or quantitative analysis to solve sophisticated problems and deliver innovative solutions with a keen attention to detail
• Experience with Python tools like Streamlit or similar frameworks to build data apps
• Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, data analytics, and data modeling
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO) for managing projects and automating software development tasks
• Fixed Income experience
