er in PPC, you will design, build and operate the data foundations and pipelines that power Booking.com's performance marketing bidding algorithms across all major search partners at scale. You will own the ingestion, transformation and serving of large-volume marketing, reservations and auction datasets across our data platforms, ensuring reliability, data quality and governance.
You will work end-to-end: partnering with ML engineers, ML scientists, analysts and PPC specialists to understand business problems and translate them into robust data models; developing and maintaining workflows that feed our bidding, reporting and monitoring systems; and evolving shared data tooling and interfaces used across PPC and other marketing teams. This is a hands-on engineering role with a clear and measurable impact on how we invest our marketing budget and optimize bids at scale.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Important aspects of the job can include:
Own the end-to-end design, operation, and governance of Booking.com's Business Intelligence Platform (Tableau , Snowflake and beyond).
Lead the full lifecycle of Tableau Server On-Prem to Tableau Cloud migration: discovery, architecture, planning, execution, testing, cutover, and optimisation.
Design and evaluate architecture solutions for BI and analytics infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance with Booking.com's platform standards.
Build automation for deployments, monitoring, extracts refresh pipelines, housekeeping, and infra/ops workflows.
Drive performance tuning and capacity planning to support high-volume analytics and self-service BI at scale.
Act as the primary technical escalation point for Tableau infra and operations, including incident management and root cause analysis.
Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, SREs, and security teams to ensure seamless integrations with data sources, identity systems, and cloud infrastructure.
Implement and maintain governance frameworks for content lifecycle, permissions, licensing, and cost optimisation.
Coordinate and mentor two other supporting staff, allocating tasks, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring operational excellence.
Continuously grow technical and interpersonal skills through hands-on engineering, knowledge sharing, and participation in internal/external learning opportunities.
Role Qualifications & Requirements
We are looking for driven Data Platform Engineers who enjoy solving complex platform challenges, who take initiative in improving systems, and who believe that high-quality analytics starts with a strong, reliable platform.
We have found that people who match the following requirements are the ones who fit us best:
3+ years of experience administering and engineering Business Intelligence Applications at scale.
Hands-on experience leading a full migration from Tableau On-Prem to Tableau Cloud (SaaS) is nice to have.
Strong understanding of enterprise BI architecture, including content governance, permissions, extracts, performance optimisation, and site management.
Experience with infrastructure operations: networking, load balancing, SSO/SAML, certificates, IAM, security standards.
Proficiency in automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar).
Experience working with public cloud environments (AWS preferred) and orchestration/CI pipelines.
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience resolving complex platform incidents.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting a large user base.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, take ownership of platform improvements, and drive them to completion.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent industry experience.
Experience managing or coordinating external vendors is a plus.
