    Position summary

    our charter is to build Booking's innovative Analytical Platform for a wide range of use cases including complex reporting pipelines and data warehousing. Our customers are the Data Scientists and Analyst community of Booking. The platform scales to millions of bookings a day, leveraging several petabytes of data to optimise the end-user experience. In short, you would play a critical role on the team building the Analytics experience that solves Booking's hardest data consumption challenges.

    As a Data Manager, you are the modeling and meta-data technical expert within the big Data Platform team. You are excited at the idea of building an data ecosystem that helps 1000s of data consumers within Booking.com to fully exploit our available data. You need to support the influencing, differentiation, and guidance to business and technology strategies, as they relate to data, through constant cross-functional interaction. You ask the right questions to the right people in order to align data strategy with commercial strategy, demonstrating technical expertise and business knowledge.
    Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

    • Implementing guidelines for modeling from the platform perspective: from conceptual to physical implementation in DBT
    • Mentoring and training other Data Managers in customized platform data modeling practices
    • Implementing and following processes around modeling and model deployment processes (manual and automated), including reviews and quality checks
    • Coming up with requirements for improving meta-data management infrastructure
    • Showing excellence in executing core Data Management role via working on the most complex business use cases
    • Defining requirements for improving metadata management capability

    Role Qualifications and Requirements

    Are you a data-driven specialist who enjoys solving problems, who initiates solutions and technical discussions? Do you believe that any challenge can be scaled with the right mindset and tools?

    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the field
    • Expertise in conceptual, logical and physical modeling
    • Expertise in DBT / SQL etc.
    • Experience with data modeling repository management and governance
    • Knowledge of Data Governance practices
    • Experience in Data Vault / Business Vault - a huge plus.
    • Experience in building analytical data architectures
    • Experience in building data platforms and data warehouses
    • Proficiency in 1 or more server side programming languages -- preferably Python
    • Experience with designing and building analytical data architecture on modern Big Data Platforms.
    • Experience with Snowflake is a plus
    • Ability to drive and take the lead in projects from a technical perspective
    • Ability to understand and formulate meaningful business metrics
    • Preferably a university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related fields
    • Excellent communication (written and spoken) and stakeholder management.
