a pivotal role in ensuring Brother's tax compliance while assisting with automation and process improvements within the Tax Department. This role is responsible for providing support to both the Sales/Use Tax and Income Tax teams assisting with the preparation, filing, and reporting of various tax documentation while providing comprehensive tax support as needed. This role collaborates with cross functional teams such as Accounting, Treasury, Finance, and other stakeholders across the company.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Sales and Use Tax/Property Tax/Unclaimed Property
Maintain sales and use tax, property tax and unclaimed property calendars and communicate deadlines
Assist with the gathering of reports and support for sales and use tax, property tax, and unclaimed property compliance
Assist with the maintenance and generation of reports from both Vertex and AvaTax sales and use tax software
Assist with the gathering of reports and support for audits and voluntary disclosures
Support the team in sales/use tax audits as needed providing requested documentation and assisting with audit inquiries
Assist the Senior Tax Accountant with monthly sales and use tax compliance and the remittance of associated liabilities
Income Tax
Maintain tax calendar and communicate deadlines
Prepare annual reports for filing
Prepare reconciliations for income tax and other accounts
Prepare support schedules for income tax compliance
Prepare support schedules for income tax provision
Assist with fixed assets software
Tax Support
Provide general administrative support to the Tax department as needed, including filing, data entry, and correspondence
Gather and compile necessary documentation for tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and local regulations
Maintain and organize tax records and documentation
Contribute to Special projects as needed; including tax-related reports and analysis
Make recommendations for process improvements to Senior Accountant and management
ABOUT OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Education
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Accounting.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax return preparation
Software/Technical Skills
Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with Accounting Software and systems- SAP/Bookkeeping

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
Self-motivated with critical attention to deadlines and reporting
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

ADDITIONAL DETAILS FOR THIS ROLE
This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers #LI-Hybrid
The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $73,000 - $85,000 per year.
Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data.
This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives.
