rives the successful execution and implementation of data-driven initiatives across Brother. This role leverages expertise in data engineering, behavioral analyses, time series data, and cutting-edge open-source tools to deliver actionable insights and innovative solutions. This role plays a pivotal role in transforming raw data into strategic business advantage.
As a member of the Data Enablement and Process Excellence Group (DEPEG) leadership team, this position is expected to work together with the Senior Director and other leaders within the internal team to establish group cohesiveness, efficient and effective work and communication flows (both within and outside of the DEPEG) and a team culture that embodies the core performance management competencies, a baseline of professionalism, data-based decision- making, and a one-brother and service-oriented mindset.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Science and Machine Learning Strategy and Execution
Strategy and Vision: Develop and execute a holistic data science and machine learning strategy that aligns with our business goals, harnessing the expertise in behavioral analyses and time series data to uncover valuable insights
Project Execution: Oversee a spectrum of projects ranging from fundamental statistical analyses to intricate deep neural network endeavors. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project completion and alignment with business objectives
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work directly with stakeholders to scope projects and guide their evolution as insights emerge from ongoing work while adapting strategies based on evolving data understanding
Innovation: Stay at the forefront of data science and machine learning advancements, identifying opportunities to pioneer creative solutions and propel our organization forward
Privacy and Ethics: Uphold the highest standards of data privacy and ethics, utilizing the knowledge to deliver impactful results while safeguarding the company's reputation and compliance with regulations
Data-Driven Problem Solving: Devise data-driven approaches and strategies to address intricate business challenges effectively
Technology Evolution: Collaborate with evolving technology stacks and infrastructure to deploy scalable and reliable data science solutions, including but not limited to Python, open-source tools, and cloud platforms
Performance Insights: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of data science initiatives and refining strategies to optimize performance
Communication Excellence: Convey complex technical insights to non-technical stakeholders, both in written reports and oral presentations, influencing decisions and fostering understanding
Execution: Manage, process, and interpret specialized large, complex data sets from a wide range of sources to prepare it for analysis. Manage the development and implementation of machine learning models to solve business problems and drive data-driven business decisions.
Leadership
Serve as an active, passionate, and engaged member of the Data Enablement and Process Excellence leadership team
Influence cohesiveness and collaboration among the leadership team to align team goals to the overall vision of the data and process excellence strategy
Seek out work/projects for the entire team and engage members at all levels of continuous improvement output
Provide updates and communicate about projects, work output, and relevant information cascaded from other areas of the organization
Management of the Data Science and Machine Learning Teams
Manage overall operations of Data Science and ML Team and its members:
Serve as a role model/mentor for the team
Develop skills and capabilities
Embed a data-first, quality management and efficiency/effectiveness mindset
Address performance issues swiftly - together with HR
Deliver good and timely feedback
Lead a diverse team of skilled data scientists, machine learning engineers, and analysts, nurturing a culture of collaboration and innovation, while ensuring successful project delivery and professional growth
Ensure members are skilled in their relevant areas of expertise and hold the appropriate certifications
Establish written/documented work processes and best practices to provide overall excellence
Illustrate overall excellence in prioritizing, overseeing, organizing, and communicating about the team's work and its members
Ensure the work performed by/on behalf of the Data Science and Machine Learning team is compliant, produced using approved company provided tools, and of an acceptable level of quality and reliability
Develop a team culture that embodies the core performance management competencies, a baseline of professionalism, data-based decision-making, and a one-brother and service-oriented mindset
Education
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or related field Required

Experience
10+ years of data architecture, analytics development, or machine learning experience Required
At least 5+ years building and leading high performing teams of Data Scientists and Data Professionals Required

This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers.

The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $180,000-$213,000 per year
Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data
This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives
