Role Overview
The Director, Product Management drives the development & planning of Brother Mobile Products (BMS) product definition to optimize the company's products and solutions, while leading & overseeing the day-to-day functions of the product management team. This role oversees market research and applies broad knowledge of the company's product and solutions capabilities as well as the competitive environment to identify new growth areas, new technology and emerging product opportunities. This role collaborates broadly across the organization, including our international product engineering partners, to create products and validate early product definitions. This role leverages strategic and technical aptitude to grow revenue, grow profit and delight customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership of Product Management Team
Lead the product management team to create/maintain the following business-critical product management processes for all BMS product lines: Product roadmap / vision (extending out at least 5 years), product messaging, unique value proposition, pricing, end of life announcements, ROI/TCO tools, product web presence, promotions, competitive analysis, warranty offerings, service offerings & presentations
Oversee and drive collaboration with various internal/external stakeholders domestically & internationally to achieve desired results, including but not limited to marketing, finance, sales, engineering, legal, and operations
Partner with Marketing leadership to drive product launch strategy, ensuring alignment across demand generation, sales enablement, and training execution.
Product Management
Lead and manage the mobile printer series product management function, from idea generation and requirements definition to product/solutions launch and go-to-market execution
Own the execution of product management for the mobile printer series, including but not limited to the following: Product roadmap / vision (extending out at least 5 years), product messaging, unique value proposition, pricing, end of life announcements, ROI/TCO tools, product web presence, promotions, competitive analysis, warranty offerings, service offerings & presentations
New Product Development
Oversee conceptual studies and market research in an effort to define product strategies and identify product opportunities to expand the market.
Generate design concepts for new product (hardware, software, supplies, service) ideas, or significant complex enhancements of existing products
Proactively canvass internal and external organizations and resources for product and solutions suggestions and ideas
Provide a focal point to which new ideas may be directed to determine feasibility
Interface with engineering and emerging technology teams to determine feasibility, cost and development estimates for generating ROI analysis
Custom Solution Development
Oversee and drive custom solutions based on customer specific requirements
Develop business case justification to drive the projects with product planning/engineering teams
Customer Engagement
Build and strengthen executive-level partnerships across customers, channel partners, and the sales organization to advance strategic objectives
Travel as needed to represent the organization at key customer engagements, partner meetings, industry seminars, and trade events to strengthen market presence (up to 40%)
Experience & Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field
Master's Degree in MBA or Engineering -preferred
Experience Level
Experience in a product management and/or product development role, driving products through their lifecycles
Experience in business planning an analysis in support of new product introduction
Experience interfacing with customers, partners, sales teams, vendors, and other external stakeholders for the product business
Software/Technical Skills
Technical product expertise, preferably in the mobile printer/labeler product category
Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Strong cross-functional leadership skills with proven ability to build trust, influence and align stakeholders across domestic and international teams
Ability to think analytically/strategically, synthesizing various considerations to create innovative solutions and products for customers
Ability to create Marketing Requirement Documents, Product Requirement Documents, and cost-benefit analyses
Ability to define key segments and customers to validate new product and conduct validation activities
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple strategic projects under pressure and execute on tight deadlines
Strong communication (verbal/written) skills, with the ability to present to executive leadership
Knowledge of financial concepts including P&L, TCO and ROI models
Additional Details for This Role
This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by your manager. #LI-Hybrid
Base Salary
The targeted base salary range for this position is $ 175,000 - $ 200,000 per year.
Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data.
Additional Compensation
This position is eligible for a 30 % bonus at 100% of target, with the opportunity to achieve above 100% dependent on company performance and in alignment with company bonus plans.
Bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon individual performance as well as Brother achieving its corporate objectives, in accordance with the applicable bonus plan in effect.

About Where We Work
Brother's corporate headquarters for the Americas is in Bridgewater, NJ, across from the Bridgewater Commons Mall. This location houses key corporate functions, including HR, legal, finance, IT, and supply chain, and a significant presence of our business unit leadership and marketing teams. Our manufacturing and distribution facility in Bartlett, TN spans an impressive 1.5 million square feet - equivalent to 26 football fields - and is located on Brother Boulevard. In addition to the distribution center operations team, this facility hosts several other departments, including our customer service group. Brother also has employees based in other locations, such as Westminster, CO, where many of our marketing and product engineering team members from the mobile solutions division operate, as well as our distribution centers in Richmond, VA and Perris, CA. Additionally, our outside sales teams work remotely within their territories, staying geographically close to the accounts they support to ensure they are always "at your side" for our customers.
