Role Overview
The Product Specialist plays a key role in strengthening Brother's go-to-market execution by elevating technical accuracy, competitive insight, partner enablement and product expertise across B2B and B2C channels. Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, B2B, this role delivers impactful product demos/presentations and application-based training to internal teams and external partners, while supporting Product Planning by contributing technical expertise and market insight to help shape clear value propositions, product positioning, and effective messaging and talk tracks for customers and partners. Acting as a subject matter expert, the Product Specialist collaborates closely with Product Planning, Sales, and Marketing to ensure all deliverables are technically sound and market-ready, offers sales support and technical guidance on commercial and SMB opportunities including bid requests, and provides technical and networking consultations. This role requires a strong communicator who builds trusted relationships, has a sense of urgency, an ability to multitask, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and brings passion, agility, and a continuous improvement mindset to everything they do.
Duties & Responsibilities
Product Knowledge & Technical Expertise
Acquire in-depth knowledge of our product range, including printers, scanners, labelers, supporting apps, and compatible software, while building a strong understanding of IT/networking infrastructures in which our solutions operate.
Perform content verifications to ensure technical accuracy across materials.
Training, Enablement & Brand Representation
Act as a Brother brand ambassador, supporting the sales team with technical expertise. Deliver individualized trainings internally and to external customers; attend customer events and training sessions as required.
Create training materials and conduct sessions to enhance internal product knowledge.
Train and support on solutions, product features, and applications.
Product Launch & Go-to-Market Support
Support the product launch process.
Collaborate with Marketing to create technically accurate promotional materials, sales assets, and campaigns.
Gather and report on customer voice and needs to support Product Planning positioning and strategies.
Provide product feedback to Sales and Marketing to inform targeted strategies.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis
Gather competitive intelligence, including new products and solutions.
Monitor and report on market trends and advancements in product technology.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Participate in weekly EPSC (Electronics Product Stewardship Canada) meetings, stay current on environmental regulatory policies, represent Brother in discussions, and prepare required Canadian filings under Legal direction.
Coordinate timely and accurate submissions for Government of Canada New Substances Notifications (NSN).
Cross-Functional & Ad Hoc Support
Support Commercial and SMB sales initiatives as needed.
Perform additional duties, projects, and ad hoc requests as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a product specialist or similar role, preferably in the print/scanning industry.
Bachelor's Degree specializing in Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Tech-savvy and customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated, proactive go-getter who takes initiative and effectively prioritizes in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in MS Office.
Able to set up, move, and handle equipment up to 25 lbs.
Knowledge of IT networking, printers, scanners, and the computer peripheral space (networked color/mono printers, fax, and MFCs). - Preferred
Knowledge of Brother and competitive printer/fax/MFC product "Solutions & Networking" - Preferred
Knowledge of Office Automation products such as, Digital Copiers and various Network Applications & Solutions (i.e., document management, workflow automation) - Preferred
Experience with Project management, CI is an asset. - Preferred
Travel is required, up to 50% of the time
Proficient in both written and verbal French and English communication
Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication is essential for effective correspondence with clients, suppliers, business partners, and colleagues beyond the province of Quebec.
