The Role at a Glance
The Director, Sales leads the strategic direction, execution, and performance of the national sales function, driving revenue growth and customer acquisition across the division. This role has full ownership of the sales strategy, from formulation through execution, while overseeing a high-performing team of Regional Sales Managers, manufacturer representatives, and direct sales personnel.
As a key contributor to the executive leadership team, the Director, Sales delivers regular performance updates and insights that shape corporate strategy and decision-making. The position champions data-driven sales management, fosters strategic customer relationships, and drives cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between commercial, product, and operational goals. This role positions the business for long-term success, scaling sales efforts in targeted markets, and building a customer-centric culture within the sales organization.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Organizational Management
Lead, mentor, and develop the national sales team, including Regional Sales Managers and manufacturer representatives
Set and communicate the sales vision and strategic priorities across all levels
Build and maintain a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Align organizational structure and talent with evolving business needs
Sales Strategy & Executive Reporting
Own the creation and implementation of comprehensive sales strategies that drive divisional growth and market expansion
Deliver strategic sales insights and reports to executive leadership to inform company planning and forecasting
Monitor market trends, customer behaviors, and competitive activity to proactively adapt commercial plans
Translate high-level corporate goals into actionable sales plans and KPIs
Key Account & Territory Oversight
Support and guide strategic account development and retention, ensuring value delivery to top customers
Provide direct oversight and strategic input on key regions and accounts as needed
Assist in complex negotiations and large-scale customer engagements
Ensure all territories are aligned with growth potential and organizational priorities
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the key liaison between Sales and Marketing, Product Development, and Operations
Influence product roadmaps, pricing, and promotional strategies through sales insights
Ensure alignment of sales initiatives with broader company goals and customer experience standards
Represent Sales in cross-functional executive planning forums
Sales Enablement & Process Optimization
Evaluate and optimize sales tools, CRM usage, and training programs
Implement best practices for pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting
Establish performance metrics, dashboards, and continuous feedback loops
Key Experience & Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) Business, Marketing, or related field Required
Experience
A combination of experience spanning the following areas: Minimum 10 years Required
Developing, implementing, and executing sales strategies within industrial or technical markets
Experience managing and leading sales teams, including direct oversight of Regional Sales Managers and/or manufacturer representatives
Demonstrated ability to manage key accounts, negotiate contracts, and build long-term customer relationships
Proven expertise in setting and achieving KPIs to meet divisional sales goals
A combination of experience spanning the following areas: Minimum 5 years Preferred
Experience in the gearmotor, automation, or related industrial equipment industry, with a focus on selling to OEMs
Experience in territory management, particularly in U.S. manufacturing regions
Experience in managing both direct and indirect sales channels, including distributor and representative networks
Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with a focus on scaling sales efforts
Software/Technical Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) Intermediate Required
Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management Software (Salesforce preferred) Intermediate Required
Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Strong ability to strategically analyze data, think and execute on long-term action plans Required
Ability to build strong, trusted relationships within and outside of the organization Required
Strong aptitude for crafting creative strategies to achieve business growth and divisional profit Required
Knowledge in all aspects of sales management, including but not limited to: forecasting, goal setting, team planning, account mapping, resource management, time management, selling to the relevant executive, conducting executive briefings Required
Strong communication skills (written/verbal/interpersonal) and ability to build relationships internally and externally Required

Compensation & Schedule for This Role
This role will be a remote role. #LI-Remote
The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $140,000-$160,000 per year
Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data
This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives

About Where We Work
Brother's corporate headquarters for the Americas is in Bridgewater, NJ, across from the Bridgewater Commons Mall. This location houses key corporate functions, including HR, legal, finance, IT, and supply chain, and a significant presence of our business unit leadership and marketing teams. Our manufacturing and distribution facility in Bartlett, TN spans an impressive 1.5 million square feet - equivalent to 26 football fields - and is located on Brother Boulevard. In addition to the distribution center operations team, this facility hosts several other departments, including our customer service group. Brother also has employees based in other locations, such as Westminster, CO, where many of our marketing and product engineering team members from the mobile solutions division operate, as well as our distribution centers in Richmond, VA and Perris, CA. Additionally, our outside sales teams work remotely within their territories, staying geographically close to the accounts they support to ensure they are always "at your side" for our customers.
