    The Role at a Glance

    The Senior Specialist, Bid Desk & UMAP, manages responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and proactive bid responses, as well as all special pricing processes through our channel operations platform. This position reviews and validates all special pricing requests, ensuring compliance with Brother's programs and guidelines. This role works cross-functionally with other Sales Divisions, Marketing, Sales Operations, and Senior Management to identify, improve, and enhance programs and related workflows. This role assists in monitoring and mapping UMAP violations for Brother Machine Group (BMG) & Home Appliance Division (HAD) and works alongside the Senior Manager to assist in providing guidance and training for the UMAP processes.

    This role identifies areas of opportunity to improve and enhance our existing special pricing programs and all related processes and workflows, based on experience, industry standards, and feedback from key stakeholders. Additionally, this role supports the Pricing & Channel Programs team by performing ad hoc projects and tasks.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities
    Special Pricing/Bid Strategy & Improvement

    • Lead bid opportunities by collaborating with sales teams and management on the following main areas of focus: bid strategy, Brother value proposition, analysis, competitive tactics, pricing, packaging, standard and non-standard terms and conditions, and negotiating strategy

    • Find more efficient ways to adapt to market changes with a focus on program improvements, adjustments, and creation

    • Review, interpret, and ensure a thorough understanding of customer requirements across the team

    • Set up bid strategy and storyboarding sessions with the applicable stakeholders to ensure the best strategy is in place to win the bid

    • Provide ongoing financial analysis on historical bid trends and competitive price positioning

    • Coordinate with dedicated centralized corporate functions in Sales and Marketing to enable more effective competitive wins

    • Educate the field sales organization and other applicable stakeholders on special pricing programs and processes

    Unilateral Minimum Advertised Price Policy (UMap)

    • Manage the enforcement of the UMap policy and provide recommendations for improvement

    • Collaborate with management to update UMap language and rules as needed when meeting with Sales, Marketing, Legal, and other relevant parties

    • Monitor the compliance of authorized partners and enforce penalties against offenders as needed

    • Notify the distribution network of penalties and restrictions

    • Communicate with channel partners to announce changes and updates to the policy

    • Educate and train internal stakeholders to understand the policy and associated processes in partnership with the Senior Manager

    • Assist both Brother Machine Group (BMG) and Home Appliance Division (HAD) in adding new SKUs, adjusting UMap prices, and updating UMap Promo Calendars

    • Create official Brother Compliance Notifications to all partners across BMG and HAD

    • Communicate and answer Brother UMap Policy questions with Brother Partners

    • Monitor Brother Compliance Email Inbox

    • Collaborate, Communicate, and assist with Brother's UMap Vendor Relationship(s)

    Brother Authorized Partner Program (BAPP)

    • Manage enforcement of the UMAP policy and provide recommendations for improvement

    • Collaborate with management to update UMAP language and rules as needed when meeting with Sales, Marketing, Legal, and other relevant parties

    • Monitor the compliance of authorized partners and enforce penalties against offenders as needed

    • Notify distribution network of penalties and restrictions

    • Communicate with channel partners to announce changes and updates to the policy

    • Educate and train internal stakeholders to understand the policy and associated processes in partnership with Senior Manager

    • Assist both Brother Machine Group (BMG) and Home Appliance Division (HAD) in adding new SKUs, adjusting UMAP prices, and updating UMAP Promo Calendars

    Bid Management

    • Lead bid opportunity through the bid review process, ensuring proper bid qualification

    • Ensure that all bids/quotes/proposals receive the appropriate management approval prior to submission

    • Externally building relationships with distributor partners who inquire about programs, partners, and pricing

    • Ensure compliance with Brother's programs and guidelines (including contractual requirements, POS reporting, and warranty registrations, as needed), bid reviews, and pricing thresholds

    • Document and accurately communicate all required information and terms and conditions of pricing quotations to applicable stakeholders (internal and external)

    • Identify potential conflicts or issues with special pricing requests (i.e., duplicate requests, reseller issues, etc.)

    • Manage bid/opportunity pipeline within SAP Sales CRM

    Process Maintenance

    • Maintain all special pricing program documents (flyers, brochures, guidelines, etc.) updated and accurate, acquiring approvals from the Legal team and management as needed

    • Document and maintain all bid desk processes/procedures and price files, updated and accurate

    • Distribute documents accordingly

    Ad-hoc Projects

    • Identify areas of opportunity within other Produce Divisions to improve and enhance our existing special pricing programs and all related processes and workflows, providing recommendations based on experience, industry Standards, and feedback from key stakeholders

    • Manage, lead, and facilitate projects that will support the Pricing and Contracts team and other divisions within Brother as needed

    Key Experience & Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred

    Experience

    • 6+ years of varied experience with bid desk/bid management and UMap enforcement

    Software/Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in channel operations software

    • Proficiency in SAP (ERP, C4C)

    • Proficiency in contract management software - Preferred

    Other Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to use good judgement

    • Strong ability to influence and train

    Compensation & Schedule for This Role

    This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers. #LI-Hybrid


    Base Salary

    • The targeted base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year.

    • Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data.

    Additional Compensation

    • This position is eligible for a 5% bonus at 100% of target, with the opportunity to achieve above 100% dependent on company performance and in alignment with company bonus plans.

    • Bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon individual performance as well as Brother achieving its corporate objectives, in accordance with the applicable bonus plan in effect.

    About Where We Work

    Brother's corporate headquarters for the Americas is in Bridgewater, NJ, across from the Bridgewater Commons Mall. This location houses key corporate functions, including HR, legal, finance, IT, and supply chain, and a significant presence of our business unit leadership and marketing teams. Our manufacturing and distribution facility in Bartlett, TN spans an impressive 1.5 million square feet - equivalent to 26 football fields - and is located on Brother Boulevard.
