orting the data privacy program and initiatives of Brother's Ethics, Compliance & Governance functions. This role is responsible for actively working on tasks related to administering day-to-day elements of the privacy program with data champions across the US, Canada, and Latin American regions. This role will participate as part of a trusted advisory team for data privacy matters for business stakeholders across the region. This role effectively communicates and builds strong business relationships with internal clients to understand business goals, while aiding in identifying potential risks and opportunities that support organizational objectives.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Data Privacy
Collaborate closely with the Information Governance Steering Committee, regional leadership, and Cyber Security teams to support the management and oversight of the privacy program
Coordinate the implementation of the privacy program with data protection champions across the US, Canada, and Latin America regions
Provide input to enhance compliance processes in conjunction with emerging data privacy laws and regulations
Adopt a pragmatic business-partnering approach to collaborate across functions, offering risk assessments and guidance
Assist with the development, implementation, maintenance, and communication of privacy policies, processes, and procedures in alignment with global regulations and industry best practices
Participate in internal design discussions to ensure that data protection requirements are clearly defined early and throughout the development lifecycle for new projects
Draft amendments or new internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders in response to changes in applicable laws
Work cross-functionally with employees at all levels across the company to ensure efficient integration of the Privacy Program into business processes
Data Privacy Impact Assessment (DPIA's)
Conduct privacy impact assessments
Collaborate with relevant business units to identify data processing activities that may pose risks to data subjects' privacy
Serve as an active listener in cross functional meetings to identify appropriate privacy controls and provide recommendations to the business in consultation with management
Policy and Procedure Enforcement
Work with subject matter experts to obtain an in-depth understanding of documentation requirements and apply those requirements to create initial drafts of policies, procedures, and supporting documents such as standard operating procedures, job aids, and forms
Ensure policy documentation is consistent with Brother templates, guidelines, and styles and is appropriate for its intended audience
Review procedures and other supporting documentation for alignment with other corporate policies and escalate any conflicts or discrepancies to management
Act as a resource for policy and procedure inquiries from employees and redirect inquiries to management as appropriate
Maintain the corporate policy portal with most recent policies and train policy coordinators on how to use policy portal
Training Support
Draft customized training content related to corporate policies and the Code of Conduct for delivery across the Americas
Support training initiatives for internal compliance subject matter experts to educate employees about data privacy practices
Maintain the compliance training course lifecycle, including course setup, assignment, tracking, and reporting on completion
ABOUT OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Education
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in business, law, philosophy, IT, or a related field
Experience
5+ years of varied exposure responding to regulatory inquiries, supporting policy enforcement, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure privacy compliance
Languages
Spanish - Preferred, not required
Portuguese - Preferred, not required
Software/Technical Skills
Visio and Adobe Acrobat
SharePoint
Data Privacy tools and technologies (such as TrustArc) - Preferred, not required
Other Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Strong interest in the evolving data privacy regulatory environment, data privacy laws, and compliance enforcement
Attention to detail to carefully review data flows, policies, and internal/external data classification documents to identify gaps in privacy practices
Familiarity identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities in the handling of personal data
Strong sense of ethics and integrity in dealing with sensitive data and privacy concerns
Ability to educate and train on data privacy practices, policies, and legal requirements
Ability to take direction and discern the ability to escalate when appropriate
Ability to manage multiple, varied tasks and deadlines simultaneously while prioritizing appropriately
Strong written and verbal communication skills comfortable and confident in communicating with senior leaders of the Brother business
Strong ability to work well in a collaborative team environment and build strong personal relationships within the team and across the business at all levels
Willingness and eagerness to take on new and challenging projects with interest and enthusiasm for learning new subjects; a positive attitude and strong work ethic
ADDITIONAL DETAILS FOR THIS ROLE
This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers. #LI-Hybrid
The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $75,000 - $93,000 per year
Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data
