Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in school and college activities such as, but not limited to, developing new curriculum or student recruitment.
Collaborate with faculty and staff from other schools/departments to promote communication, coordinate schedules, and support student success.
Collaborate with high schools, universities, business and industry or external agencies as appropriate, and assist with program advisory committees as requested.
Support collegiality by actively participating in the professional development of new and veteran faculty (for example, mentoring, peer observations).
Serve on department, school, and college committees and task teams.
Participate in and assist with student activities and clubs.
Participate in other activities as appropriate and approved by the dean.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Arts degree and a minimum 5 years of experience in Stage Design, Lighting Design, or Costuming OR a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Stagecraft (or related field). This must be conferred before beginning instruction, from an accredited institution.
AND
Minimum of two semesters of recent college instructional experience in a lower division required, or experience in leading apprenticeships, or documented successful completion of college classroom management training.
Preferred Qualifications
M.F.A. or MA degree in Theatre or Drama or related field with 18 graduate hours in Theater or Drama.
Teaching experience in a community college setting or equivalent.
Experience teaching Introduction to Theatre at the college level.
Experience as director of live theatrical productions.
Portfolio of production experience.
Demonstrated proficiency using digital design applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
Demonstrated proficiency using an online, classroom learning management system such as Brightspace to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.)
Three (3) years of experience in scenic construction utilizing a variety of materials (wood, metal, plastics, foam)
Experience in scenic design (manual drafting and CAD)
Experience with scenic painting techniques
