igh School diploma or equivalent required.
1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting with current knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
Previous interpretation / translation experience preferred.
Ability to precisely and accurately translate critical medical information from English to the patient's native language.
Spanish interpreters / translators must meet Spanish proficiency levels defined by Cook Children's Health Care System and measured by objective and nationally recognized oral language, reading and writing tests. All applicants are tested to determine their Spanish proficiency level.
To qualify for employment, applicants must meet minimally required Spanish proficiency levels. Testing will be administrated by a contracted testing service prior to completion of the employment process. Applicants must test at the proficient level to qualify. Subsequent to employment, Spanish proficiency levels are verified as part of the employee's annual review. Testing is administered by a contracted testing service.
