rate truck equipped with dump body. Transport and dump loose materials such as sand, dirt, gravel, and stone for customers or stockpiling. This is a 2nd shift position at our Mt Hope Quarry in Wharton, NJ.
Core Responsibilities
Conduct daily pre- and post-shift inspection procedures.
Continuously examine road conditions for debris in the road, potholes, other equipment, pedestrians, etc., assess slope stability, and operate accordingly.
Drive up stockpiles in most weather conditions and at night under flood lights (depending on location and shift).
Pull levers and turn cranks to tilt body and dump contents.
Move hand and foot controls to move truck forward and backward to loosen and dump material adhering to the body.
Communicate and cooperate with all personnel.
Wear hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection and respirator as needed.
Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required by manager.
Additional duties as assigned or required, consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.
Regular and timely attendance is required.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Required Experience/Education/Skills
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or 3+ years of practical work experience.
Ability to operate safely.
Intermediate knowledge of equipment to operate safely and efficiently.
Ability to identify equipment service needs such as equipment malfunction or breakdown, etc.
Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions.
Basic mathematical skills.
Ability to communicate with loader operator, other team members, and other drivers.
Successful completion of MSHA training (upon hire).
Task training on an as needed basis.
Ability to read English.
Preferred Experience/Education/Skills
Tolerate working at heights.
