O2C (Order-to-Cash): Manages the customer journey from order to payment, driving smoother revenue processes.
R2R (Record-to-Report): Enables robust financial reporting and accounting.
P2P (Procure-to-Pay): Ensures timely vendor payments and strong supplier relationships. Manages the Travel and Expense program.
Center of Excellence: Drives innovation and continuous improvement.
Payroll (Hire-to-Retire): Ensures accurate, compliant employee payments.
Shared Services enables companies to focus on growth and strategic goals while maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary business owner for Vertex O Series, Vertex indirect tax accelerator, and tax related configuration inside of SAP.
Manage Vertex tax logic, content updates, jurisdictional settings, nexus configurations, exemption certificate maintenance, and legal entity assignments.
Maintain product taxability mappings, material group tax assignments, and GL/tax category relationships.
Partner with AP, AR, Procurement, Master Data, and IT to support Vertex requirements, design, and testing for Project Phoenix
Sales & Use Tax
Own and manage U.S. Sales & Use Tax compliance delivery
Provide governance and oversight of SSC and third-party prepared filings
Ensure timely filings and payments through calendar and escalation ownership
Oversee reconciliations between Vertex, SAP, and the general ledger
Act as escalation point for notices, variances, and discrepancies
Serve as SSC owner for Vertex compliance governance
Partner with finance teams to resolve data and taxability issues
Lead standardization and transition into shared services
Enforce audit-ready documentation standards
Drive compliance process optimization initiatives
Support indirect tax audits and inquiries by identifying risks, improving processes, and maintaining clear tax policies.
Compliance & Reporting
Oversee timely and accurate preparation, filing, and payment of all indirect tax returns across relevant jurisdictions.
Maintain strong internal controls and documentation to support audits and regulatory inquiries.
Monitor changes in indirect tax laws and ensure compliance processes are updated accordingly.
Support property tax compliance by ensuring accurate asset data, reviewing assessments and filings, assisting with appeals, and coordinating with Real Estate and Fixed Asset teams.
Advisory & Planning
Provide guidance on indirect tax implications of business initiatives, new products, supply chain changes, and system enhancements.
Provide guidance on taxability, exemptions, and proper tax setups within the ERP and Phoenix environment.
Audit & Risk Management
Manage indirect tax audits, inquiries, and disputes with tax authorities.
Identify and mitigate indirect tax risks through proactive review and process improvements.
Develop and maintain robust tax policies and procedures.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
Partner with Accounting, Procurement, IT, and Operations to ensure tax requirements are embedded in business processes.
Train internal teams on indirect tax concepts and compliance obligations.
Collaborate with external advisors to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory expectations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
Minimum of 7 years of experience in indirect tax (corporate, consulting, or a mix)
Strong knowledge of sales & use tax and exposure to Vertex O Series.
Experience managing SSC or outsourced tax models.
Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
Professional certification such as CPA or Chartered Accountant is strongly preferred.
Background in multi‑state tax environments.
Experience supporting ERP implementations or tax system integrations.
Experience in manufacturing, construction materials, or multi‑entity environments.
Work Environment
