luates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences.
Job Responsibilities
Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT)
Advises leadership on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions
Plans and implements training for employees in safety practices
Maintains safety files and records
Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
Conducts post accident investigation and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management
Assist, set up, and conduct safety training for staff
Assists in the development, evaluation, and upgrading of safety programs
Assist and maintain environmental reports including MSDS sheets, permits, etc
Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of the business
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in industrial safety or related field required
Knowledge of principles and processes of safety compliance (OSHA) function
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
Requires 5+ years of safety experience
