    Position summary

    versus custom built solution. Delivers solution adhering to standards and leveraging re-use of components. Creates high level and detail design of infrastructure OR applications, interfaces, conversions, extensions, reports, and workflows while meeting architecture, security, performance, scalability, and maintainability requirements. Assists technical and infrastructure groups in understanding the solution design and specifications. Works closely with IT technical service providers to ensure outsourced work packages are delivered to specifications, meeting key parameters of quality, schedule, cost, security, performance, and scalability. Conducts or participates in formal design reviews and code reviews (where applicable) to ensure the detailed design specifications have been understood and coding standards have been adhered to by the development team(s). Seeks appropriate opportunities to promote re-usability of component designs to reduce costs and shorten time to deliver solutions. Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance efficiency in the build and deploy processes, leveraging automation where possible. Assists in the test strategy and execution of master test plan. Participates in the creation of standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines for the IT design and development community as well work instructions or 'runbooks' used for end-user support. Analyzes and revises existing systems and documentation to identify remediation or improvements in the application or infrastructure solution. Provides level 3 support for critical non-routine issues. Coaches less experienced team members on technical matters.

    Solution Functional Fit Analysis - Composes and decomposes a system into its component parts using procedures, tools and work aides for the purpose of studying how well the component parts were designed, purchased and configured to interact holistically to meet business, technical, security, governance and compliance requirements.

    Solution Modeling - Creates, designs and formulates models, diagrams and documentation using industry standards, tools, version control, and build and test automation to meet business, technical, security, governance and compliance requirements.

    Education, Licenses, Certifications:

    College, university, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related subject, or relevant equivalent experience required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Role Overview

    The Azure Platform Engineer is an experienced Azure engineering professional with 7-9+ years of hands-on expertise in platform automation (Terraform, PowerShell), resource deployment through GitHub/Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and disciplined platform governance. This role leads technical initiatives, guides teams on solution design and deployment feasibility, and partners with application teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure Azure solutions. The engineer is accountable for Azure platform health, incident response maturity, technical debt reduction, and ensuring high availability across regions and availability zones.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Platform Automation & Deployment

    • Design, automate, and deploy Azure resources using CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).

    • Lead technical solution design discussions and validate deployment feasibility.

    • Partner with application teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable, secure Azure solutions.

    • Maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM/Bicep, PowerShell, and Azure CLI.

    2. Backlog Management & Governance

    • Prioritize backlog items, feature requests, and platform enhancements in Azure Boards/Jira.

    • Ensure compliance with governance standards, Azure Policies, RBAC, tagging strategy, and security baselines.

    • Maintain and reduce technical debt across Azure environments.

    3. Operations & Troubleshooting

    • Provide L3/L4 support during major incidents; lead RCA and implement long-term fixes.

    • Troubleshoot complex issues across compute, networking, identity, security, and application integrations.

    • Continuously improve incident response processes, runbooks, and automation.

    4. Azure Resiliency & High Availability

    • Ensure resiliency, high availability, and DR readiness across Azure workloads.

    • Design fault-tolerant architectures spanning multiple regions and availability zones.

    • Address infrastructure bottlenecks and proactively harden platform stability.
