    • Create assemblies and concept models that ensure seamless fit and function. Collaborating with engineering, you will generate designs that integrate perfectly with mating parts and support efficient manufacturing.

    • Analyze and validate designs using cutting-edge tools. Your ability to assess design adequacy will reduce errors, improve performance, and streamline the development process.

    • Evaluate engineering risks to strengthen product reliability . By applying structured methods (such as FMEA, fault tree analysis, or hazard assessments), you will identify potential failure modes early and recommend mitigation strategies that protect performance and safety.

    To be successful in this role you will need the following:

    • Deep mechanical systems knowledge fuels innovative design. You must understand how mechanical systems behave across environments and lifecycle stages to create designs that meet both Cummins and customer expectations.

    • Precision in specifications ensures manufacturability and inspection accuracy. Produce solid models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials that clearly communicate design intent across teams and meet all relevant standards.

    • Strong configuration and change management keeps product data aligned and secure. Success requires tracking and controlling design changes from concept to obsolescence, maintaining the integrity of product baselines throughout.

    • Lifecycle thinking ensures designs are robust and future-proof. By considering customer needs in various operating conditions, you'll create systems that perform reliably over time and across use cases.

    • Cross-functional communication bridges design with execution. You must tailor your messaging to different audiences to ensure alignment and clarity at every stage.

    • System-level design thinking connects parts to the whole. Your ability to represent architectural and product-level concepts ensures that individual components integrate seamlessly into larger systems.

    • Commitment to standards drives consistency and quality. Adhering to Cummins, industry, national, and international standards guarantees that your work meets the highest benchmarks of excellence.

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

    Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

    This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

    Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
