Roles and Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable backend APIs and microservices using modern cloud-native architectures.
Build and maintain an internal API framework that supports Experience APIs, Capability APIs, and Domain APIs.
Implement orchestration and choreography logic to aggregate and transform data from multiple backend systems.
Develop backend services using Spring Boot, ensuring modularity, testability, and performance.
Collaborate with architecture, product, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enforce security, governance, and automation standards.
Ensure API lifecycle management including mocking, proxying, testing, deployment, and deprecation.
Integrate APIs with Azure API Management (APIM) and other gateway solutions for observability, rate limiting, and authentication.
Contribute to API design standards and documentation practices to promote consistency and reuse across teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of backend development experience with production-grade systems.
Strong proficiency in Spring Boot, Java, GraphQL and REST API design, including OpenAPI specifications.
Deep experience in APIs and microservices-based architecture, including service discovery, fault tolerance, and distributed tracing.
Expertise in container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with API lifecycle tools such as SwaggerHub and automated testing frameworks.
5+ years of experience working on Azure or GCP Cloud Applications/services.
5+ years of relevant work experience in designing and building software applications with expertise in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, FastAPI, Go, as well as the following: Relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB or Cosmos DB), messaging systems like Apache Kafka, MQ, etc., and container orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
3+ years of experience leading software development projects by setting project goals, monitoring progress, tracking milestones, communicating with stakeholders regarding project issues, and mentoring junior developers as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Health Care Industry domain knowledge
Experience in enterprise development tools and methodologies (XP, Agile) including DevSecOps and DataOps
Experience integrating with legacy mainframe/mid-range AS400 applications including developing roadmaps for modernization of the applications

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:$106,605.00 - $260,590.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
