Data Center Critical Facilities Specialist
Job Summary:
The Critical Facilities Engineer supports the wider team by performing repairs and leading all aspects of site maintenance at our static site. The successful applicant will be tasked with coordinating the maintenance and up keeping of all Data center infrastructure according to Equinix global standards.
Ideally, we will be looking for someone with a strong electrical background, with data center, mission critical and/or controls experience highly desirable. All engineers are encouraged to work across disciplines where possible so candidates with a broad working background who becomes comfortable with customers, vendors and colleagues will suit the role well. As part of the Facility Specialist team, the Facility Engineer is responsible for supervising and performing facilities engineering work, including (but not limited to), alarm response, fault finding, maintenance, repairs, and modification of equipment relating to controls, electrical, mechanical systems and equipment.
Collaboration with colleagues, strong communication skills (particularly when speaking with onsite customers) and a dedication to consistently achieving personal and team Equinix goals will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities
Provides the team with expert technical support and advice
Acts as SME and provides training to junior team members where needed
Reporting - Reviews specialist contractual reports and activities
Assess Consistency to Policy - Ensures all repairs performed onsite are completed according to the manufacturer's guidelines and standard methodologies
Problem Solving - root cause analysis and in the repair of failed components
Teamwork - Liaises with regional construction or design teams on design changes
Design - Validates design criteria for new principal power installations (e.g. single power source)
Safety Systems Management - Ensure 100% compliance
Alarm Response and Incident Management - Acknowledge alarm and source root cause, compile and draft incident report for review by Management, develop and train procedure, review and submit Incident Management Report for approval
Site Security Personnel - Ensure a secure environment is maintained, contracts are in place, and SLA reviewed and invoiced
Data Center Security Policy and Procedure - Ensure 100% compliance
Teamwork - Participate and contribute to an effective and productive team, consistently demonstrating personal behaviors that uphold Equinix values
Qualifications
Ability to attain and maintain NV1 security clearance
Trade background or formal qualifications Degree/TAFE in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical)
Strong facility management experience, data center a plus
Excellent written and spoken interpersonal communication skills, proficient in English language
