is within the Global Design and Construction team (over 20 people) who delivers over 70 projects globally per year (in excess of $3B capex). This position oversees projects in Canada.
Job Summary
Plans and directs day to day operations and strategic direction of large, regional Data Center construction programs in Canada as well as lead a team of high performing professionals. Significantly contributes to creating and maintaining best in class policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains supply chain relationships.
Responsibilities
People Leadership
· Leads, manages, recruits, develops staff, often across multiple Data Center construction projects.
Project Management
· Leads and manages large, regional Data Center construction programs
· Provides guidance and project leadership including ground up construction, remodels, renovations, etc., ensuring projects are meeting or exceeding company expectations
· Drives projects to meet expected schedule and budget targets
· Ensures high quality turnover to Operations team
Vendor Relations
· Directs as many as 25+ external vendors per project comprising General Contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.
· Leads in establishing and maintaining high value relationships
Training Programs
· Leads in identifying and developing training programs
· Leads cross-functional training
Contract Administration
· Leads in developing and executing effective contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation
Leadership
· Leads in mentoring junior team members
· Leads in directing all internal and external project team members including internal Design, Procurement, Operations, Sales and IT/Network support teams
· Is the external face of Equinix in dealing with local jurisdictions in which projects take place
· Evaluates contemplated projects and provides guidance on timing, risks and expected end to end development schedule timing. Participates actively in business planning to ensure alignment with business objectives related to development.
Policy & Procedure Development
· Leads in creating and maintaining best in class policies and procedures
· Reviews and drives cross functional policy updates
Qualifications
· Extensive construction management experience in Data Centers including Retrofits and/or highly technical critical facility construction projects preferred
· Bachelor's degree in a related field of engineering, construction management, architecture, preferred
· Ability and willingness to travel (Approx. 30% of time) throughout the US and Canda to support active projects.
· Background in leading teams and developing professionals to be their best.
· Proven experience in project management in a critical facility construction environment
· Strong stakeholder management and collaboration including vendor management.
· Self-motivated and flexible
· In-depth knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and industry best practices
· Experienced in Construction procurement methodologies
· MS Office including MS Project, Excel, and Visio skills
· Bilingual French a plus
