Job Summary
The Salesforce Platform Architect will be instrumental in designing and implementing a robust architecture to support our Lead-to-Cash transformation. They will contribute to long-term strategic planning for Equinix's Salesforce Org and ecosystem and work closely with IT product owners, business partners, and OCTO to define the architecture, security measures, scalability, and overall solution strategy aligned with our new processes.
The Platform Architect will design the architecture and technology strategy to support our Lead-to-Cash program, whose vision is "Make it easy for sellers to win and for leaders to coach and influence the outcome." The strategy will include a broader long-term scope of Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, Forecasting, and Sales Planning (Territory/Quota and Communities).
Responsibilities
Design and develop the overall Salesforce platform architecture and technology strategy for Equinix's new Salesforce environment, ensuring it aligns with our organization's IT strategy and business objectives
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into scalable, reliable, secure, and efficient platform design and strategy leveraging out-of-box capabilities
Define and maintain principles for the architecture and design of the Salesforce platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and maximization of out-of-the-box capabilities
Collaborate with IT teams to establish and enforce best practices for Salesforce org configuration, integration, and development, maintaining a streamlined user experience
Lead the design and implementation of a complex, AI-ready, enterprise Salesforce environment, focusing on system integrations, data migrations, and leveraging native capabilities
Develop system architectures to accommodate business, customer, and product growth, ensuring the platform can scale effectively as business demands increase across systems
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and development teams, ensuring adherence to Salesforce best practices and architectural principles
Partner with other architects and OCTO to ensure seamless integration of Salesforce with other enterprise systems and applications
Identify integration points and develop data flow strategies using APIs and middleware. Document architectural designs, process flows, and guidelines for knowledge transfer and future development
Monitor Salesforce platform performance, recommend optimizations, and stay updated on new Salesforce technologies to drive continuous improvement
Experiences:
Must-Haves
15+ years overall engineering experience, including 5+ years in a Principal Architect role. Proven experience designing Salesforce architectures for large enterprise implementations
Experience in implementing or managing the Lead-to-Quote process in Salesforce, including Sales Cloud, and Marketing Cloud
Experience with APEX, Visualforce, Flow, SOQL, and integrations
Demonstrated experience with Salesforce Data Cloud, Forecasting, Territory/Quota Planning, and Communities
Experience with Agile Hybrid Project Management tools and methodology (JIRA, Agile, Scrum teams)
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with Salesforce Service Cloud and communities
Experience with Salesforce platform integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, Web Services, and Data Loader
Exposure to Salesforce AI capabilities such as Einstein, Co-pilot, and Agentforce, focusing on architecture supporting these tools. Data Cloud, Forecasting, Territory and Quota Planning, and experience with CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) products
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
Current Salesforce Architect certifications (e.g., Technical Architect, Application Architect) and relevant Salesforce certifications (Administrator, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud) are highly desirable
In-depth knowledge of SFDC capabilities and experience expanding on those capabilities through AppExchange and integration with external systems
Strong knowledge of Salesforce technologies, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning, and various integration methods
Strong expertise in Salesforce DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and version control systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex enterprise environments to drive overall technology strategy
Deep understanding of Campaign, Lead, Account, Contact, Opportunity, Case and Quoting processes
Ability to manage confidentiality of information
Quick learner of new systems, processes, and technology
Ability to drive business consensus and simplify processes and designs
Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization
Ability to document interfaces and data flows
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels
