Job Summary
The Senior Learning Experience Designer works on course and training module development projects in support of and in development of and engaging training course content for data center employees. Conducts analysis, designs and develops instructional approaches and/or strategies to meet training requirements. Delivers training to employees directly or indirectly and mentors others.
Responsibilities
Craft technical experiential learning solutions that support adult learning standard methodologies, address needs identified in a job/task analysis, drive behavior change, and improve performance of Equinix Data Center Technicians and Critical Facilities Engineers
Work with internal subject matter experts to build accurate, effective training content
Translate sophisticated information and ideas into intuitive, engaging, and effective explanations
Gain a solid understanding of the various functional and technological product areas of Equinix
Build and maintain valued relationships with key internal customers and external vendors
Design interactive courseware, video, augmented/virtual reality that appeals to international audiences
Apply various modern authoring tools to rapidly build enjoyable, positive learning experiences that are interactive, effective, and technically functional
Develop instructionally sound knowledge, skill, and job performance-based assessments
Closely partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve existing learning programs based on the latest research in adult education
Meet all milestones and deliverables by deadlines; when delays do occur, work with the team to estimate, monitor, adjust, and proactively communicate revised deadlines as needed
Mentor Jr Instructional Designers and Regional Trainers on standard methodologies in instructional design and enablement solutions
Help to shape the ongoing strategy and mission of the technical training programs
Follow Equinix branding guidelines and standards to ensure content is professional and consistent with corporate look and feel for internal audiences
Qualifications
Proven progressive related work experience in technical training, instructional design, technical writing (or equivalent combination of 5+ years of transferable experience and education)
Deep experience designing and developing learning programs across delivery mediums and content types (mobile learning, e-learning, video, gamification, virtual learning, live simulation, and live classroom)
Demonstrated experience working in a constantly evolving, project-driven environment with design sensibility when creating all instructional materials
Proven track record to independently apply logic and creativity to arrive at the best solution to a problem is a must
Working knowledge and application experience using Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Captivate, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), and other industry benchmark applications and online multimedia authoring tools
Be a creative innovator and have strong visual acumen to design illustrations and animations relevant to a technical audience
Knowledge of learning experience design and design thinking principles
Experience applying Agile or LEAN project management practices to the design and development of training
Experience leading project teams and running cross-functional programs
Experience editing and writing content that will be translated into other languages
A strong attention to detail (grammar, spelling, syntax, diction, and punctuation)
Experience developing metrics and tracking quality and turnaround time
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Master's Degree in Instructional Design or Technical Writing is preferred
