Senior Manager (Engineering & Technical), Data Center Operations
Job Summary
Manages supervisors, engineers, and holds ownership of critical infrastructure across each Data Center site. Upholds engineering and technical standards, owns capital and operational budgets and incident management process for the sites.
Responsibilities
Management
Manages supervisors, engineers and project/program managers
Manages teams to work safely, effectively and with high regard to operational standards and human error avoidance
Manages personnel details to include salaries, positioning, hire/fire, reviews, coaching and development
Site Capacity Management
Overall site capacity management including power utilization, customer requests and expansion reviews
Project/Infrastructure Management
Plans, coordinates, reviews budgets, and implements resources to complete projects and maintenance within all data centers in Sweden
Owns and delivers operational and capital budgets for the sites
Overall management of capital and engineering projects for the sites
Vendor Management
Oversees contractor work and operations to ensure completion to Equinix's required standards, KPI's and SLA's
Leadership of maintenance scheduling and vendor delivery
Vendor contract management and oversight including contract negotiations, pricing/quotations
Testing
Ensures correct processes are followed and all documentation is complete
Leadership of the transfer and adoption of of new builds and building infrastructure
Review and develop methods of procedure (MOPs), emergency operating procedures (EOPs) and other scripts as required for operation of the infrastructure. Supporting the team in reviews of documentation and technical input into their formation
Incident Management
Leads incident response and oversight of events with the engineering team
Communicates and coordinates activities and on-site staff during an incident
Assists with root cause analysis and incident resolution
Establishes processes, procedures and training for personnel on incident management (critical infrastructure emergency response)
Financial Management
Leadership of operational and capital project budgets and forecasting
Engineering
Critical facilities engineering team leadership and coordination
Responsible for engineering standards delivery across sites, engaging with global engineering teams and communicating across local teams
Develops and leads reviews of power utilization and efficiency across sites, driving sustainability goals and targets
Qualifications
Proven years of heavy industry or data center experience managing technical / engineering teams
Qualified electrical or mechanical engineer, preferable with electrical switching experience and certification
Experience in managing engineering teams and associated budgets
Project management experience
Experience managing electrical, mechanical and associated HVAC/fire systems/cooling maintenance programs and fault response
