Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with at least 10+ years of extensive experience as an SQL Server Administrator. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MS-SQL DBA advanced database administration. and high-availability solutions. A DBA must know how to install, configure, and maintain MS-SQL databases. A DBA must have strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation. This role is critical for ensuring our mission-critical databases' optimal performance, reliability, and security.
Responsibilities
Advanced Database Administration: Create new Microsoft SQL Server instances, configure and maintain database servers and processes, and Download and install SQL Server service packs and updates
SQL Server Administrator: Expert MS-SQL DB administrator, configured and maintained SQL Security controls, Proactively monitored SQL Server maintenance tasks, troubleshoot failed processes
Backup and Recovery: Manage database backup and recovery and disaster recovery planning
High Availability and Scalability: Configure and manage high-availability solutions, including AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clustering; be well-versed with replication methodology, HA configuration, and failover in MS-SQL databases.
Security Management: Develop and enforce comprehensive security policies for database access, encryption, and auditing; perform Security patches and upgrades
Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for complex database issues, including performance bottlenecks, corruption issues, and critical failures
Capacity Planning and Growth: Analyze current and future database capacity requirements and plan for scalability to accommodate growth and evolving business needs
Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation of database architectures, configurations, and processes. Provide regular reports on database performance and status
Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and other IT stakeholders to support and enhance database-driven applications and services
Automation: Excellent knowledge of Powershell scripting, Terraform, Ansible, Azure Arc, etc.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
Availability to work in the office twice a week
Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are highly desirable
Experience & Technical Skills
Minimum of 10+ years of strong experience as a SQL Server Administrator
5+ years of Proven track record in backup, recovery, and applying security Patches
4+ years of Proficiency in Managing and configuring High Availability and DR configurations
2+ years of Strong familiarity with Azure Arc and other monitoring and management tools like Service Now
5+ Years of Strong familiarity with experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) with working knowledge on Terraform
It is good to have other admin skills like Cassandra and MongoDB with troubleshooting skills.
