    Position summary

    ecution of critical asset management, asset lifecycle management, and strategic capacity across Equinix's global data centers. This role is responsible for overseeing the evaluation, performance, efficiency, and end-of-life management of critical infrastructure assets, including electrical systems, mechanical systems, and liquid cooling solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational excellence. The role will also oversee the development of a Global Inventory & Capacity Management platform, designed to allow Data Center operations and Sales teams and work cross-regionally & cross-functionally to ensure maximum utilization of our global assets. The role will work directly with design and construction, finance, and procurement for material planning and evaluation ensuring global asset risks are proactively managed.

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Asset Leadership

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy focused on the entire lifecycle of critical infrastructure assets, focused on maximizing uptime, performance and lifecycle cost efficiency

    Capacity Management

    • Develop and continuously improve a global Capacity Management platform providing a view of available data center capacity for Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Customers. Work seamlessly with Field Operations to maintain this system for capacity related data across the data center fleet

    New Asset and Architecture Evaluation

    • In partnership with Global Design and Construction teams, lead the evaluation and selection process for new electrical, mechanical, and liquid cooling systems, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and efficiency standards while aligning with future growth and scalability needs. The team will assist with performing witness testing & architecture review and support translating results into recommendations to Global Procurement planning

    Efficiency Optimization

    • Implement strategies to enhance the operational efficiency and capacity of electrical, mechanical, and liquid cooling systems, including energy management initiatives, capacity planning, and optimization of cooling and power distribution systems

    End-of-Life Management

    • Develop and execute end-of-life strategies for critical infrastructure assets, including decommissioning, recycling, and replacement processes, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and compliance with environmental regulations. Lead planning with regional operational stakeholders across AMER, EMEA, APAC to enable up-to-date asset data and recommendations for end-of-life planning

    Risk Management

    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with data center operations and critical infrastructure asset mgmt., ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements

    Critical Infrastructure Performance Monitoring

    • Establish and oversee performance metrics and KPIs for critical infrastructure assets, utilizing data analytics to assess asset performance, reliability, and lifecycle efficiency

    Vendor Management

    • Track relationships with vendors of critical equipment and 3rd parties responsible for maintenance, installation, parts, and ensuring adherence to service agreements on our global asset inventory

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with Field Operations and cross-functional project management teams to ensure alignment on asset management initiatives, capacity planning, and resource allocation for critical infrastructure assets

    Continuous Improvement

    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices, lean methodologies, and innovative solutions to enhance data center management processes related to critical infrastructure

    Planning and Forecasting

    • Develop and manage a short and long-term forecast for operations engineering and critical asset management within Equinix, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and financial performance

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry partners, to promote data center asset mgmt. initiatives and secure necessary support

    Team Development

    • Mentor and develop engineering and operations teams, promoting professional growth

    Qualifications

    • Multiple years of experience ideally in data center equipment and operations, including electrical distribution systems, mechanical systems (HVAC) and liquid cooling technologies. Experience in similarly complex mission critical environments requiring massive scale, advanced cooling, power optimization, and cutting-edge automation will also be considered eg: power, utilities ,aerospace, defence, semi-conductor and petro-chemicals)

    • In-depth understanding of asset lifecycle management principles

    • Proven leadership in equipment testing, review, recommendation, and associated documentation

    • Strong expertise in emerging and sustainable technologies in power and cooling in large scale data center environments

    • Experience leading large-scale site capacity and risk analyses across multiple geographies and change management in on critical facilities infrastructure

    • Strong background in equipment inventory and lifecycle management and systems

    • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work with senior leadership in Procurement, Design and Construction, and other teams that are part of the asset lifecycle

    • Strong people leadership skills, with demonstrated success in developing future leaders and managing globally dispersed teams

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred
