This Advanced Lead Engineer has a high potential to become a future leader in composites. Activities include supporting and contributing to the design and development of the RISE Ducted Program, solutions and systems for polymer composites. This role will impact quality, efficiency and effectiveness of this Fan Advanced Mechanical Design (AMD) Team and will have significant input into the team's priorities. This role shall be guided by professional practices and policies of GE Aerospace that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring moderate levels of operational judgment. This role will specifically start out by designing composite hardware, maintaining our rigs/tests, some mentoring, and owning Ducted flowpath composite hardware through the design review process and manufacturing of the prototypes required to deliver hardware for future ducted demonstrators.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 3 years' experience in design engineering
Desired Characteristics
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
Established project management skills.
Experience in aeromechanics, composites design or turbomachinery airfoil design.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
