with regards to SMS policy development, training, assurance, and risk management. This will require close, cross-functional interaction with leadership across the global Safety, Quality, and Engineering organizations. This role is available remotely.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the theory, design, development, practical implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the GE Aerospace SMS to support safety methodologies and techniques for engines, services, systems, equipment, and devices.
Coordinate and manage Enterprise-wide communications related to creating a positive safety culture.
Integrate with the Flight Safety Teams to measure safety risk management (SRM) mitigation strategies and ensure objectives throughout the Enterprise are met.
Execute processes to identify, evaluate, assess, and mitigate safety risks inherent to the product design (production and maintenance) to an acceptable level.
Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance for safety policies, procedures, safety risk assessments, hazard evaluations, risk correction/control, monitoring, safety assurance processes, training, and safety promotion across the Business in coordination with global GE Aerospace business activities and priorities.
Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve SMS performance, products, processes, or services. Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work.
Use high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, services, or engineering. Assess the quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and construct and provide recommendations. Use multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at decisions.
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE Aerospace customers using reports, records, and letters.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aviation/aerospace industry
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering
10+ years of experience as a Safety Engineer within the aviation/aerospace industry
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Proven ability to analyze data to identify process improvements
Demonstrated ability to promote and implement change within a business
Demonstrated influencing skills
Demonstrated ability to provide mentoring and/or formal training in Safety Engineering to engineers at all levels of experience
Ability to successfully facilitate multiple efforts or projects to meet project deliverables
Demonstrated ability to effectively present technical data to executive leadership
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated competency in using standard business software and tools
