As part GE Aerospace Engineering, the Staff Engineer - Composites Design will be responsible for the mechanical design, manufacture, and delivery of composite hardware used in the development testing of the next generation of narrow body jet engines. You will be required to push the boundaries of what is possible with the latest technologies and materials developed at GE Aerospace. This role is a part of the Compression Systems and Structures team.
This position has the flexibility of optional hybrid schedule once fully trained. The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.
Job Description
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with minimal supervision on the design and analysis of complex composite structures, applying sound engineering principles and following business standards, practices, procedures, and program requirements
Share technical guidance and a subject matter expert that supports the achievement of other people working on complex tasks; coach others in the organization.
Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned hardware
Create action plans, with support, to address issues/ problems
Provide strategy to fulfill the technical and program requirements
Contribute as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews with internal and external customers
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college.
At least 5 additional years of experience in a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering position.
Experience in design of polymer matrix or ceramic matrix composite parts.
