The role of Senior Product Designer for Robotics Tools is crucial for Cruise to deliver on our mission. This role will mainly focus on developer, B2B, and operational workflows, tools, and interconnected toolchains; and envision solutions in all forms, from process recommendations, to designs, to prototypes. This position will require the candidate to deep-dive into how the business and technology of an autonomous ridehail company works, understand operational efficiencies, invest in initiatives to reduce platform costs and increase quality, and speed up development timelines across multiple technology roles (I.E. MLEs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the business needs, usability gaps, and UX opportunities across a wide range of tools and stakeholders; including product, front-end engineering, systems engineers, operations leads, legal, etc.

  • Work with UX managers and cross-functional stakeholders to develop quarterly plans and deliver against them; be accountable for UX impact.

  • Manage the entire design process from the initial concept through to execution, which includes brainstorming, prototyping, user testing, launch, and landing.

  • Deliver solutions that drive impact to Cruise, from facilitating design sprints, to developing service blueprints, to traditional interface designs and prototypes.

  • Partner with research teams to ensure product usability.

  • Partner with, and present to, diverse stakeholder groups; receive feedback from them; and refine the work as-needed.

  • Ensure engineering velocity by planning deliverables accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in product design, UX/UI design, or a similar area, evidenced by a portfolio that highlights projects which have enhanced a businesses operations, substantially reduced costs, or improved a product's quality.

  • Deep knowledge of design fundamentals, human-computer interaction, and user experience best practices.

  • Exceptional skills in communication, collaboration, and project management, capable of leading and contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Aptitude for, and demonstrated ability in, rapidly learning new/deep product areas.

  • Skilled in using design and prototyping software like Figma.

  • Experienced in performing user research and usability testing to guide design choices.

  • Driven by a passion to tackle complex challenges and a steadfast commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background with human-in-the-loop tools.

  • Demonstrable experience improving operational efficiency in an organization through human centered design.

  • Experience designing developer tools, including AI/ML tools.

The salary range for this position is $126,000 - $185,300 . Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
