    Position summary

    rform at a high level in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing facility. This person shall be comfortable supporting manufacturing processes on the production floor. As a Controls Engineer you will be addressing production issues alongside quality, manufacturing, and maintenance teams. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain and improve existing production processes by using continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques.

    What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

    • Provide daily support of production operations with focus on personnel and equipment safety, process quality and uptime with a focus on automation and controls.

    • Provide technical/engineering support to assist production and maintenance with troubleshooting equipment/process failures and with identifying effective follow-up countermeasures.

    • Supervise skilled trades personnel when required.

    • Identify and execute projects to support achievement of departmental business objectives and continuous improvement of safety, quality, cost, and reliability.

    • Ensure new and existing equipment meets operational requirements and appropriate standards.

    • Machinery / equipment Controls Management to ensure compliance with GM Safety and Controls standards.

    • Maintenance / Production Guidance (technical troubleshooting and direction, safety counsel).

    • Ensure proper documentation (drawings, manuals etc.) is available and properly maintained for all equipment in assigned area and collaborate to develop maintenance standard operating procedures (SOPs/Task instruction sheets (TIS).

    • Participate in downtime planning and launch activities, as required.

    • Identify technical training and knowledge transfer opportunities with other Controls Engineers and Maintenance Teams.

    • Maintain current knowledge in fields of expertise. Update management on current status and emerging trends of areas of expertise as relating to equipment standards, legislative requirements, GM Requirements, etc.

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

    • 3 yrs of manufacturing experience.

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical /Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience in Controls Field.

    • Intimate knowledge of automotive tooling and manufacturing assembly processes.

    • Broad industrial controls and automation knowledge as it relates to automotive assembly plant.

    • Oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience.

    • Must be willing to rotate between first and second shifts.

    • Must be willing to work daily and weekend overtime as required/needed.

    What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

    • Proficient in Rockwell Contrologix platform and RSLogix 5000 preferred.

    • Proficient in Rockwell EtherNET IP architecture and configuration preferred.

    • Proficient in Rockwell DeviceNET architecture and configuration preferred.

    • VFD experience (PowerFlex 700, 755, ArmorStarts, MoviMOT,) preferred.

    • Fanuc robotics automation experience preferred.

    • Proficient with AutoCad preferred.

    • Proficient with basic electrical standards, NEC Code, and GM standards.

    • Proficient with safety standards, lockout, ESWP, safety assessments, buyoff processes, GM standard safety protocols.
