assume a key role in modernizing the GM Mainframe ecosystem. This role will suit someone with solid software development and/or systems engineering skills, who is a strong team player with a positive, confident attitude and an eagerness to learn new skills/practices.
Hybrid: This position will be located onsite a minimum of three days per week in our Limerick office and 2 days from home.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Software & Systems Engineer at GM, you'll:
Collaborate with teams worldwide, communicating effectively with a positive, can-do attitude.
Design and develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Break down projects into manageable tasks, estimate timelines, and deliver incremental improvements.
Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and create quick prototypes for solutions.

Drive innovation by promoting modern engineering practices like test-driven development, continuous integration, and delivery pipelines.
What We're Looking For

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or a related field) OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
Strong decision-making and analytical skills.

A strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn new tools, technologies, and practices.
Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic.
Technical skills required
Training will be provided on required technologies, tools, and processes. We are recruiting candidates with a combination of skills in some (or all) of the following:
Software Engineer Systems Engineer
• PL/1 / COBOL zOS v2.5 / v3.1
• JCL IMS/DB2
• Easytrieve IBM Mainframe Product Set
• IMS/DB2
• IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS)
• IBM IDz
Additional Attributes/Skills (desirable but not essential)
• Agile, SCRUM methodologies
• Distributed SCM experience e.g. GIT
• Groovy/Java
• REXX Scripting
